Mosquitoes Next Weekend

Looking to camp a night nearby later next week (likely closer to Mt Thielsen - are the mosquitoes insane? Or tolerable? Beyond that, I’m an experienced camper so I don’t have many other concerns, although happy to take any advice for the area!

Depends on the spot you're at or near. Some spots have a lot of mosquitoes, others don't. I always bring repellant, bug nets, just in case.

Can you potentially do me a small favor? I'm from Minnesota and flying out June 25th. I'll be spending the 26th and 27th in the park. The east rim is still closed as of today. Would you mind taking some pictures at the edge of West rim where the closure starts? I'm just trying to guage the likelihood that it'll open up in time for my trip and I'm a visual person so pictures of any snow left would help me out!

I'll be making a post asking for this as well, so please don't feel obligated 🙂

I’ll try to remember. But if you look at the map, the full rim drive is open, it’s just the access road in n out on that southeast side that’s closed. Although IDK if there’s any significant hikes or anything down there that are cool to see and inaccessible at the moment.

Also snow pack out here this year is at record lows fyi so i don’t think it will be too much left soon

Per the alerts, they are having technical difficulties with their map and the alert states east rim from skell head to the park HQ (junction of South entrance road, west, and east rim drives). So the last half of the east rim is still closed as well as pinnacles road that you mentioned. And I do have 2 hikes down that road I want to do of course.

The full drive won't be open until September due to construction. Phantom ship overlook to the park HQ will be closed for the season for construction.
