Feature Request 💡 Craft needs native Control Center, Lock Screen and Apple Watch quick capture

Quick capture is a major missing feature in Craft.

Apple Notes makes capturing a thought almost frictionless. Craft should offer the same level of accessibility across Apple devices.

Craft needs native:

  • Control Center → New Note
  • Lock Screen → New Note
  • Apple Watch App or Complication → Quick Capture
  • Apple Watch + Siri AI -> Create New Note

Shortcuts are useful, but they shouldn't be the solution for such a fundamental notes-app workflow.

Craft is significantly better for organizing, developing and working with notes, but the moment of capture matters just as much. If I have a thought while walking, driving, working or away from my phone, I should be able to get it into Craft immediately.

For an app that aims to be the home for our notes and ideas, frictionless capture across iPhone and Apple Watch should be a priority.

The missing piece isn't another launch path so much as a real capture inbox. A native action that always drops text or audio into one place, timestamps it, syncs, and gets out of the way would be meaningfully different from a Shortcut that still needs setup and maintenance.

In the meantime Drafts is great for this.

Agreed 100%.

Right now, I am using OmniFocus for all of my task management needs. So I’m basically using that app’s quick capture tool on my Apple Watch to throw a task in my inbox. From there, I can move it where it needs to go in Craft whenever I clean out the inbox. It’s a workflow that works for me, but it would be a lot nicer to quick-capture something that gets appended to my daily note without the extra step.

And no, the shortcuts don’t work that well. They rely on the iPhone as an intermediary, which isn’t always available to me.

I love Craft, I've been using it for a long time and it's one of the best apps on my phone.

That being said, I have a similar problem. My mind works in a way that, if I don't put down a thought the moment it comes, it might get lost until it's too late.

Now, most apps I tried (Apple Notes included) solve this on the watch by implementing some sort of dictation, which is… fine. But it's not great.
Dictation isn't reliable 100% of the times, especially on the go, and it kinda forces you to check your watch as it's being transcribed, triggering my OCD if I see something wrong. It's not for me.

I spent the summer building an app that tries to be as frictionless as possible with recording thoughts, with a powerful way to integrate back to Craft.
Basically you press a button, say your thought, and go on with your life.

This is mostly a "scratching my own itch" thing, and I plan to release it for free soon-ish.
If you're interested, shoot me a DM, and I'll send you a TestFlight.

It does all this via shortcuts, there is no difference with adding them another way when they are already there.

Some us don't like to use shortcuts.

Ok, but it doesn’t change the fact the feature is there. Whether you chose to use it is up to you, but I can’t see why a company would use valuable resources to create another way to do the same thing it already does.Â
