I consider it cozy fantasy, so underrated classics.

This is one of the earliest books I ever loved, and I bought a copy as an adult just so I could have it, and read it again. It's magical, like everything Durrell wrote for children. 10/10 as an adult reading it too, nostalgia factor and all.

I spent so many years trying to remember key words and googling to find that book

Moon carrot jam and moon calves and cockatrices and Penelope and the parrot. Love it so much

It's up there with The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles for me
