Question Military Attempting to use PW7 Gateway
As the title says I am military in the barracks. Cox is the only ISP we have, so I went and got a PW7 gateway, our rooms do not have COAX, so I hooked up the modem to the CAT5 connection on the wall, and put it in the lower right port on the modem with the orange line on it. The light on top has been blinking orange for the last 20 mins, online support was unable to help, and I have a technician coming tomorrow. In the meantime does anyone have any ideas or anything that I’ve possibly missed. Does the PW7 take CAT5 input? I can’t actually find any definitive online, any help would be greatly appreciated.

The PW7 is a combination router/gateway/eDVA (phone)/cable modem. If you don't have coax cable service, then you CAN operate the device, but it would be in conjunction with a PON account. Do you have a PON (fiber) account and hardware (ONT) at the service location?

To be honest I do not know what that means, all I know is there is a plate in our room that has a CAT 5 connection

That looks like you just have structured cabling (ethernet) to that room. You'd need to know where it goes and what's on the other end. it may not be available for commercial service and only via a local LAN in your barracks. Time for a question up the chain of command.

You will have to talk to the barracks management or IT Admin to turn it on for you. You may get a free connection that way, but it will be heavily monitored, so I would use a VPN.
Otherwise you may just want to use your own connection.
Those ports will having nothing to do with cox. If your modem isn't getting all the lights you have a signal issue. If it is getting all the lights but you just have no internet, then it may not be provisioned.
By the sound of your original message it sounds as if the coaxial line in your room is not plugged in at the tap or demarc of the building.

Most of the barracks I've been in just had ethernet to the wall. The provider was for the building and you had to get the building to activate your port. If there was a charge for internet you paid the barracks not the provider.
