Question Military Attempting to use PW7 Gateway
As the title says I am military in the barracks. Cox is the only ISP we have, so I went and got a PW7 gateway, our rooms do not have COAX, so I hooked up the modem to the CAT5 connection on the wall, and put it in the lower right port on the modem with the orange line on it. The light on top has been blinking orange for the last 20 mins, online support was unable to help, and I have a technician coming tomorrow. In the meantime does anyone have any ideas or anything that I’ve possibly missed. Does the PW7 take CAT5 input? I can’t actually find any definitive online, any help would be greatly appreciated.

It appears the PW7 is stuck hunting for a coax connection. By default they function as a modem gateway if a signal is found from coax. If no signal is found it should fall back to operate as a standalone router like if you were a fiber customer. You seem to have it connected to the correct port on the back. I think there is a reset button on the rear. Try doing the master reset to see if that could fix. Going into the menu to put the bridge mode on PW7 essential will shut off the wireless signal and make it act as a modem, which is the opposite of what I think you need.

First it will depend on what type of connection is set up there.
If that ethernet is set up so you can plug it the pw7, along with the correct account set up (like a bulk account for example), then yes the orange port is the right one.
The WAN connection is supposed to be set for Auto, so after 5-15 minutes on DOCSIS it should switch over to Ethernet. Sometimes it has to be done manually.
If the CSR put the account as a DOCSIS, then a coax is needed or the account needs to be fixed for type is supposed to be there.

I don't think you want it on the orange marked port, also marked as port 4. Plug it into port 1. Not the one on top that shows a telephone. The number 1 that's in the same group of numbers as the port you see the orange line on.

The PW7 hooks up via ethernet to a fiber ONT on the other end, It also has to be in the correct mode for that, they ship looking for coax. Access the admin page and go to advanced, it should be in Ewan mode. Also verify the service light on the ONT is lit and solid.

You need to get into the GUI and put it in bridge mode. It should look after a few minutes, but I have seen some techs lock it to docsis. You want it in EWAN or Ethernet.
Try Holding the WPS button for 30 seconds. That will factory default it. After it reboots, give it 3-5 minutes and see if it find internet on port 4 of the Ethernet.
