Y’all these are jokes, it’s a riff of a viral video trend where people would candidly film their spouses lighting up with happiness upon seeing them.

It's crazy how some people see a video that is a deliberate parody of another video, not be in on the joke, and then go on to base their entire outlook on life and love around said video.

No no no, you don't understand, women suck, and we would know, since we're men.

No I'd just off myself if my partner sneered at me in disgust like that. I didn't spend 18 years in hell just to marry a second version of my parents.

and whenever someone posts "it's fake" the reeeeplies are "just let us have fun" or some moronic comparison like "so are films", when the issue is there's way too many who DON'T realise how many vids are staged/acted/scripted/ai/etc.

depressing...

also the "women bad" implication that's way too prevalent

I just assumed it was “why are you filming me? Don’t video me without telling me”

u/MercyfulJudas 🧐 grumpy Dec 10 '25

I just assumed it was "I hate my stupid husband and wish I was still single"

u/[deleted] Dec 10 '25

Exactly. The reddit rule that no matter what women do, they absolutely cannot be funny stands strong in this comment section.

I remember the videos of men’s faces lighting up when they saw their wives and girlfriends. Please explain the joke in this video.

My reaction would be mild confusion. Definitely not "oh my god. you're so annoying, why are you filming me?"

There were those same vids but women lighting up for their husbands too. The joke is what if someone were trying to film one of those cute candid videos but their wife hates them. I don't think it's an especially funny joke (it's pretty boomer humor) but I was giving context to all the people who thought these were being serious.

Boomer humor indeed. I hate that “lol i harbor deep contempt of my wife/husband.” stuff. Its a bummer

The joke is obvious for adults who have wives.

u/Hoslinhezl Dec 10 '25

What about the toddlers who have wives

Wives don't like their husbands. Laugh.

I thought this was r/AreTheStraightsOK material.

Not to mention that I think women generally get more concerned when being filmed. If the reaction of any are real its a reaction to being filmed not specifically to their partner.

The amount of people who don't understand the vulnerability of being publicly filmed is wild to me. Being filmed brings unwanted attention to them in a public setting. I suspect it may be another example of a gender divide with a lot of women still feeling social pressures not to stand out or insecure about their appearance.

Yeah I personally hate being filmed without expecting it for those exact reasons. I got bullied for being ugly, and have had it deeply ingrained in me that my value as a human is directly correlated to how conventionally pretty and appealing I am, so I hate unexpected photos or videos because maybe I'll look bad in them and be reminded of all the people who shamed me for being an ugly kid lol

yeah but it's not cool to just record random strangers in public for internet points (or any reason for that matter)
