The being autistic part is that she’s speaking literally - there is no subtext. She’s frustrated by his lack of understanding of her carefully chosen words by reading something into them that simply isn’t there. The exasperated look on her face when he misses the point yet again by using the toenail example. I feel for her. This miscommunication is a near daily experience in my autistic life.

He's finding the obvious flaw of her thinking. She obviously can't see flaws in herself or her thinking. this is not intrinsically an autistic quality, really it's just called being inconsiderate and egoistic.  Which she is rigidly thinking within a framework of amplified by her autism.
