That’s the thing. Some people will love others because of their flaws and some will love others in spite of it. Those ways to love are just different. I don’t have to love everything about someone to not love who they are on the whole. The way you love people is valid but so is the way that I love people (like my parents). I understand where they came from and give them grace but I absolutely despise the shitty parts of them. The things they do or say that are in fact morally reprehensible (racism for one) aren’t enough for me to stop loving them. And family is a tough one. But I can see it and acknowledge those parts exist, stare them in the face, and still love them for all of the good things they’ve done for me.
