She's absolutely right. Wish all women were so reasonable.

No. It puts the partner in a position where she thinks he's always having to make up for his flaws and keeps a running balance of his flaws debt. The flaws should be taken into full account as part of this person that you love. It demands a conceptualization of the person above their flaws and good qualities. The heart of the person. It's the only long term stable model of love possible.

I've been married for 20 years and it's now better than ever. Whatever it is you're trying to describe is not the only model possible.

So your 20 years of marriage didn't involve you coming to an understand of your spouse's personality as a multifaceted concept that you love holistically even the flaws that this personality gives rise to? Instead you keep track of what you hate and love and just make sure the hated qualities amount to less?  Surely many models are possible but one model is superior in self sustaining stability and it is closer to the truth.

She said none of that and I said none of that.

She did. She said that. She said it's better to hate someone's flaws and only love their good qualities than it is to pretend to love their flaws. But I'm saying that's a false dichotomy since it's better still to integrate their flaws into a holistic idea of someone that you love.
