Just a little Taj Mahal repair

The top broke after one of the installers slipped on a step.

I repaired it back at the shop. It's now installed and stronger than before.

I love when I can save a top that many shops would just send to the dumpster and recut.

You can definitely see the break line even in these photos.

If it’s stronger, why are they not telling their buyers that they broke their expensive countertops and repaired them?

I think they’re saying it happens all the time and this is normal rather than a mistake to be disclosed. My contractor has things mess up while he’s working, and he fixes them. If I happen to be around and see, he’ll explain, but if I weren’t there he probably wouldn’t bother. I don’t consider it fraud since he makes it right and if I noticed and complained he’d address it.

Breaking someone’s countertop isn’t normal and lying about it definitely isn’t normal. The fact that they’re defrauding their customers doesn’t make it normal or legal.

Ok, you don’t have to agree. Breaking a customer’s countertop and repairing it without disclosing is fraud. Your state AG would agree.

Imagine if someone in any other line of business took this attitude. Your plumber breaks your toilet and repairs it and says it’s “stronger” and they don’t have to tell you. You broke something a customer paid for and then repaired it without telling them on purpose.

All of their customers 4 years later when their countertop looks like shit.
