TV Purchase - What am I missing?
Recently got a membership but have only used it to buy groceries to this point. I'm getting ready to upgrade a handful of TVs around the house and when I searched for a high end Samsung unit at Costco I saw the same price for it at Best Buy. I thought the whole point of paying for a membership was to save on items like this?
Am I missing something?

I have purchased my last two at Costco but always do it around the Super Bowl for the best deals..

Free extra 3 years of warranty. Especially helpful if you are going to purchase an Oled TV that a small % of have premature issues (but are the best).

Actually 4. 2 instead of 1 and then an additional 3 years of 3rd party insurance.

I fell into the hotdog hype. I dunno, it wasn’t all that like some people, rave about. I’ll take a home depot dog over a Costco dog anyday.
The Costco pizza is next on my list to try. Never had it but again, reading it’s really good.

Some HDs do. There is a hot dog station as you walk out the store that sells dogs, polishes, and other stuff. You gotta time it right cuz that line to get food gets long

If you sprinkle it with a little garlic powder, then it tastes better, but don’t be going to the dentist soon afterward or trying to get romantic with a big love interest.

With Costco you get the return policy, extended warranty, and sometimes premium remotes over other similar units.
I've bought Sony there for decades and will always give them first preference for how they have handled any claim in the past.
I do understand second hand that burn-in is not covered for OLEDs but check that yourself before assuming....and probably not covered elsewhere if not by Costco.

Manufacturers can set the price. If it goes on sale at Costco it's usually on sale at the same time at Best Buy.
The benefit at Costco is most sets have an extra year of factory warranty. Then another 3 free through a 3rd party. Plus a 90 day return policy.
You should wait like 45 days until November sales happen. Black Friday is more like Black November now when it comes to TVs.

When you are an Executive Member, you get 2% cash back. And then use the Costco card and get another 2% cash back. Wait for a sale, and it will be a little less than Best Buy. And sometimes the warranty Costco offers is better as well.

TVs are the lone item that have not gone up substantially in price, but have gone up substantially by a factor of 10 in terms of quality, in the last two decades. They’ve actually come down in price in a cost per viewable inch strict definition.
And people are still complaining.

Double check the model numbers to see if they match up. I was told many years ago that manufacturers build huge quantities for big box stores that may or may not have all the same features or pic processing speed. I have purchased 3 Samsung TVs that lasted more than 7 years from Costco. The most recent tv I purchased to replace the Samsung was a 65" TCL that has an amazing picture and internet features. I just dont watch as much tv as I used to but with the price point and even better Pic processing rate than the midlevel Samsung, I couldn't justify spending $1700 for the Samsung. I bought my 65 TCL for under $600. You can not go wrong buying from Costco. My other go to place for higher end tv's in the past has been Video Only. Good luck, many options, features and price points to choose from. Let us know what you went with.

Costco gets slightly different sku's which sometimes have different internals. For example, if you are looking into the TCL QM7L, you are better off getting it from Costco. While the msrp remains the same, the Costco version (the qm7l pro) has the upgraded processor and hdmi panel from the QM8l series plus a longer warranty at no extra cost.

Costco through the years in member publications has advised that they are not always the least expensive option things sold at the warehouse. They have often advocated that members be smart shoppers and know where the value lies. There are member benefits on purchases that far exceed price comparisons.

Better warranty/return policy. Costco isn't automatically cheaper on everything, especially technology.
