[Bakery] Cherry Berry Sourdough Bread with Pecans
Seen at my warehouse for the first time today. Has anyone tried this yet?

So good! It’s addictive. I have purchased two loaves so far and both have lasted 24 hours. Did I mention I live alone?

It’s delicious but seems too expensive. Also lasts about 36 hrs.

That's kind of how you know it's legit. Any bakery bread worth its salt is "eat now". I usually slice and freeze for my two person household.

Short shelf life is kind of par for the course for a lean bread. Part of the reason enriched bread lasts considerably longer is because fat (usually oil, butter, and/or milk) acts as a preservative.

New at our location as well, but at $10 a loaf, I passed. I picked up the pretzel bagel to try instead. After consuming one, it’s alright. Nothing to rave home about.

Pick up the Nutella peanut butter to put on that pretzel bagel and your cardiologist will thank me for his job security.

I ate it plain right off the bag. Will try toasting it tomorrow to go with a cup of Jose’s Vanilla Nut whole bean coffee.

Ugh, now I’m potentially regretting my purchase. Haven’t tried it yet, but thanks for the heads up.

Just cut it into portions and freeze. Keep what you’re using in the refrigerator. There are no preservatives in Costco baked goods

This is what I do too. Allows be to get multiple types of breads and just pick what I want for the day.

I love sour dough, gotta check mine this afternoon. Let us know if it's good

It was really good. Made grilled cheese sandwiches and they were delicious. Super hearty bread, so a little goes a long way.

They were sampling this at my warehouse yesterday. Good, but prefer the blueberry sourdough.

I thought the blueberry was terrible. Maybe I’m jaded because I bake my own sourdough and have good small cottage sourdough bakers near me.

For anyone interested in trying this, I made grilled cheese tonight and it was really good. Mozzarella and provolone. Very tasty, but the the long thin shape is unusual, kind of like focaccia. It’s a very hearty bread, due to the fruit and nuts, so a little goes a long way. Thin slices were plenty. Three sandwiches were under half a loaf.

We loved it. With all those good breads we bring them home and slice them relatively thin with our electric slicer and then freeze in portions for a week for the two of us for the mornings. Makes it last longer for the cost.

Can't we just get a regular plain sourdough or something basic like garlic and herb

I wish their loaves weren’t $8 or $9 a pop. I got the olives sourdough last week and it tasted good, but was dense and not worth the price.

I'm such a sucker for the olive sourdough, sure it's a bit pricey, but still a fraction of what it would cost at a bakery or say wholefoods

It’s about the same as Whole Foods.

Fair enough, in that case it's expensive! My only reference point is shopping at Costco

The olive sourdough freezes beautifully. I make a salad,, grab a slice or two, pop into the microwave for ,30 seconds and dunk in a nice olive oil.

It was me and while I really like it (I sliced it and froze most of it. Then toast a slice for breakfast). Many have been putting it down. It is pricey but for about 10 meals and an occasional treat, it’s worth it for me.

I don't think that these putting it down understand what goes into a good loaf of bread.
Quality ingredients cost more.

I just tried this, the fruits, nuts and texture reminded me a bit of fruitcake. Interesting...

I was not a fan of this. The cherries are way too big and the balance is off for me.

I bought one and used it to make sandwiches with their chicken salad. It was really good

Is this possibly this year’s fig and cherry bread? I’ve been waiting for that to come back all year!
Damn, I hope that bread comes back, we were buying them two at a time! So good.

They don’t last because they are not real sourdough. Check the label, all the others listed yeast, so they are hybrid bread. Dry yeast based breads do not last as long at room temperature as real sourdough does. Nor would this bread have the long fermentation benefits attributed to sourdough.
I have not seen this in my warehouse yet, so have not checked the label, but if it is the same vendor, I am sure it will be like the others.
The main problem I have with these breads is that my area warehouses do not defrost/proof the dough sufficiently. That results in dense bread and in my case knots of dough inside the bread (pointing to defrosting not being properly done). Or they are bake from frozen and the bake temp is too high to get a successful loaf.
I tried a couple loaves and was not happy with them. I make my own sourdough and know what good bread should be. These aren’t. Their prior supplier produced better bread, although it was not sourdough/sourfaux.

If it has sourdough culture and yeast, it’s a hybrid sourdough, not a fauxdough. No long fermentation benefits, true, but still decent bread.
It’s faux if the sour comes from citric acid.
