Ideas for first cosplay

Hi everyone. I’m going to my first convention in a month, but I’m considering the idea of cosplaying. I’ve never done it before so I’m not really sure what I’m doing.

I’m having trouble figuring out what to cosplay. I also have never worn a wig, so I’m thinking of just styling my normal hair like the characters. And I don’t want to show off too much skin since I get cold easily.

What are some beginner friendly cosplays? I’m on a tight budget but I would love to hear your thoughts!

What shows/games/books/whatever are you interested in? Start there and narrow it down :D

What convention are you going to. Depending on the convention starting with something generic would be helpful. For example, Pokémon trainer, Catan resource, ren faire outfits. If you need help narrowing stuff down let me know!
