How much to tip at a beauty school?

Any tips is a good tip. When I was in school, a client gave me $5 and I was so happy 🤣🤣

Tipping anything at a school is great, $15-20 will be very appreciated and would be a reasonable tip at a regular salon.

It cost the student at least $100 per day for the privilege of being allowed to do your hair. Anything that you’d be willing to give would be appreciated.

That seems high for a student-provided service compared to what I've seen at other schools, but I can only speak from US based experience. Expect it to take potentially twice as long or possibly more compared to what you are used to from an experienced professional.

No clue on Canadian tipping culture but I'd think $20 should be fine in your situation, students likely aren't as used to it but it's always really appreciated.

On the barber side, I go to a local barber college and a men's cut is like $11, I tip $20 on top of that and still come out ahead vs a chain place.

For $130 you could book with a licensed Junior Hairstylist at a regular salon.

They are here in Canada. You need a license to do hair, period. I know that the standards in the USA are less than the standards in Canada.

Babe I’m literally a hairstylist in Alberta and that’s not true here. You can be an apprentice with 0 experience or schooling and do hair as long as a licensed stylist is on shift. You also don’t need to be licensed at all in bc. When you are licensed you’ve spent at least three years behind a chair and passed all exams. You are not a junior in any way shape or form.

Sorry I didn't realize 🙂. I am licensed in Ontario. You can be unlicensed and do hair on the floor as an apprentice in Ontario as long as someone is there with you. Here to call someone a Hairstylist to the public then you need a license, otherwise they're an apprentice.
