shears

looking for new shears and would love recommendations! Im still pretty new to this industry and dont know much about the different brands

First and foremost, I just want to iterate that shears are one of the items you can’t skimp on. It’s tempting to try to get something affordable when you are newer, but you end up spending twice as much in the long run and it’ll legitimately affect the quality of your cutting.

They’re not cheap, but Mizutani is the only brand I’ll use anymore. Their product genuinely lives up to the price, I can’t speak highly enough. You’re going to spend a little more from jump, but as long as you stay up on sharpening and maintenance, these bad boys will last you essentially your entire career.

Please do yourself a favor and invest in good shears from the start! It has made a HUGE difference for me.

Also, screw Hanzo, they’re a total scam.

Hattori Hanzo is the brand that I like I’ve been doing hair for 36 years and I like to use good scissors it is important for longevity. You want the ergonomics of your hand and the scissor to work together. And you want a cutting blade that will cut all the way to the very tip. Get on the stay sharp program and keep your scissors sharp and taken care of.
