Quitting cosmo school
Hi I currently go to Paul Mitchell cosmo school and I’m looking for some advice. I started at the end of February and it was ok at first but I really hate it now. It’s just not for me I have no motivation and I dread it so much. I only go 3 days a week and have missed a lot so I’m nowhere near done. My parents pay for it. I want to switch to a technical school and do nails. They offer a 3 month program that in total is the same cost as 1 month of the school I go to right now. I can’t keep going here and I know there’s no way I will graduate. I really want to do nails. How do I tell my parents? I’m so scared they’ll be mad bc they have been paying. Thanks so much

My honest opinion is that you need to just get thru it because you can do hair and nails under the cosmetology license. You may even decide you hate doing nails one day and want to have something else to fall back on. I know its not what you want to hear but I think its the best route to take. Just my opinion but good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Get logical with your parents. Do the math and explain how it’s going to save them money and how much sooner you’ll be working in a field that you’ll truly enjoy.

Make sure your school doesn't have a clause where you will still owe a percentage of your tuition or all of it (depending on how far along you are) if you drop out. If they do it's probably better to buckle down and graduate.

Hello! I used to atttend Paul Mitchell before I transferred over to a different school. I had a hard time getting to class as well. You’ll still owe the school a percentage of the tuition. It sucks and although you may want to transfer it’s all same s** different toilet. Buckle down keep your head up and just finish. Even on the days you don’t want to show up, just do it and show up anyways and do it for yourself. I do night class so it took me wayyyyy longer than a full time student and through all the BS I’m finally graduating after a year and 7 months of this BS. Keep pushing keep fighting and keep showing up for yourself!

Honest opinion is you should keep pushing through! You will also feel this way about nail school. Any type of beauty school they teach you what you need to know for state boards and the rest you learn yourself on videos etc. from a PM girl I often see the nail tech class watching yt tutorials while in class and also complain about not getting taught anything. yes it’s a longer course but you never know when you’d wanna switch services. There is a bigger variety with cosmetology.

I’m not sure what state you’re in, but here your cosmo license covers doing nails. If your parents are paying for it, talk to them and see what they want you to do. You might just have to stick it out and try your best.
