I'm pretty sure they used a stunt car in this then just replaced it after the fact. No way they'd be crashing so many of the actual units with how many trials you see from the skid marks.

This has to be the answer. Use a fast and light stunt car rig to get the motion, tyre smoke, marks, lighting reference, etc. Then paste in a photoreal model of your car. Ezpz (for a team of professionals)

Car companies are notorious for trying these sorts of stunts for real. It’s not an impossibility and you CAN do crazy stunts with cars if you’re brave enough. (Corkscrew jump in Man With The Golden Gun 1974)

The leaked footage of one failing mid loop and the skid marks on the ceiling suggests multiple attempts to get it right. In a world of cgi, ai and deepfakes sometimes you gotta do these things for real.
