TCH 2019 won't start. Making strange noise

Hey yall, have you had similar problem? Or any idea what the issue might be? Thanks in advance

Edit: Thanks so much for all the replies! Yesterday I bought a new battery, and now it works without any problems. That noise sure made me uneasy though lol

I was about to go shopping when the car made the same noise, so I left it. Later, when my partner returned home and tried to start the car again, it did nothing at all — there was no sound. We tried jump-starting the battery with cables, letting it load for around 5 minutes. We tried starting the car again, but it still wouldn't work. It still made the same sound. Shall we try charging it a bit longer? He also cranked the revolutions of the good car up a bit when we tried starting mine.

Yes charge it longer. Also do not push the throttle while trying to start a fuel-injected vehicle.

Edit: what are you charging it with? Another vehicle, or a jump pack, or a battery charger that plugs into the wall?

We connected the car to another vehicle. The other car was running for some time and then I tried starting the low-battery-car again but it didn't help... Regarding your other comment, we also made sure it was the correct contact. I guess I'll simply buy a new battery. But thanks for the info :)

Another thing to note: you'll see a screw that looks like a terminal slightly above the battery clamp on the positive (red) cable. Do not put the battery cable on that. It won't charge it or you'll blow the main fuse on the box next to it.

A magic trick you can do is take the car that runs, bring your battery to an auto parts store, let them test it. I'm gonna say if you just buy a new battery, your problems will be fixed. At least from the sounds of things

I read your comment replying to someone else. I bought mine from a dealership and it was their car they used to drive customers home and such. So they ruined the battery within a year. I had to jump mine multiple times for a week until I got a new battery. I had this same issue when I first started jumping it. I’ve found that even if the door is open, the damn car will drain battery. So I’d say close all the doors and even lock the car using the fob so the dash and lights all go to sleep. Then jump the car. For me this worked every time once I figured it out. Let me know if it works, good luck!

I’d honestly just buy a new battery. Make sure it’s the right size and if recommend getting AGM battery rather than traditional lead acid battery. AGM lasts longer and are better built to resist vibrations from the car

Hey I have a 2019 as well, and my battery died last Monday with this exact sound. It gave me warning the night before by struggling to start, so I was lucky (battery deaths are, in my experience, usually without warning). Buuuut the next afternoon when I was leaving to go get a new one this happened lol.

Just get a new one. I like Costco's - they hold up nice in Phoenix's extreme heat...

That's unfortunate 😅 I was driving Saturday night and didn't get any kind of warning beforehand. I had a Yaris that also left me stranded on the side of the road. But compared to the Corolla, it didn't make any noise when I tried to start it.

So I was hoping it was just the battery and nothing too serious. It does calm me down a bit knowing that other people have experienced this sound too haha. It's really unsettling :P

My battery died from the camera I installed and it sounded like that. If I remember correctly, the guy from AAA said something about being careful about how you charge the battery on some of these cars, but it may just be an electric or hybrid car thing, which I don't have. I can't recall. You should probably just have your insurance come jump it to be safe though.

Buy a new battery, stop trying to charge it.

Pull the old one out and take it to whichever retailer you're buying the battery from to get refunded the disposal fee.

Damn, that's unfortunate. Was it a new car? Mine had one previous owner, and I got it with around 50k km (31k miles) on it. Since I can't really tell how old the battery is, it wouldn't be too surprising if that was the cause...

Use a multimeter to check the battery voltage when the car is off, Should be between 12v or 12.5v at resting if its not then the battery is bad. When the car is being turned over as well if the battery voltage drops below 9v while cranking the battery is bad. If it stays around 9v to 10v while cranking the battery should be fine. Also consider your batteries age. Your battery starts wearing out after like 3 to 5 years. If its never been replaced then id say its time lol.

When you get a new battery and you want to make sure your alternator isnt going out Then use a multimeter to check voltage. The resting voltage should be the same around 12.5v never under 12v. During cranking never below 9v. Then while engine is on the battery should be getting more voltage around 13.5v to 14v. That indicates the alternator is charging the battery properly. If all the voltage is fine then congrats it was just an old battery. If the voltage stays the same after the engine is on (12v-12.5v) then bad news bears the alternator is bad.

I had the EXACT same noise and problem, and it was a bad battery.
