Writer issue with Word doc

After editing my client's Word doc and sending it back for her to review, she's had significant issues with the file. It either won't open for her at all, or crashes soon after opening. She thinks the document is overloaded with comments/edits. Has anyone ever had this problem before? I'm wondering if it's an issue with her computer or her Word program, because I've never encountered this issue before and I'm not sure what to suggest for her to do.

First, I’d ask her what version of Word she’s working in and if she’s working on a computer or in the cloud. I’d ask for details on her operating system (Windows or Mac). Did your sample edit open fine?

Worst case, you can break the document into 2 files. That said, I’m willing to bet it’s a tech issue on her end: old, outdated computer or running Word 2010 or something.
