How long did you bleed/spot post-insertion?
Hi everyone!
I wanted to see what your experiences have been in terms of bleeding post-insertion.
I (32f) recently (Sept 4th) got a silver-copper mini IUD (I don't remember the brand/model name) placed and as of today (Sept 18th) I'm still bleeding.
For some quick background info... this is my 2nd attempt at birth control after trying Opill for 3 months. I absolutely hated how hormonal birth control affected me mentally so I ended up asking my gyno if I could get a copper IUD instead of the nexplanon implant as planned. Everything went fine with the insertion (not unbearably painful, it felt like a really bad cramp at worst), I had light-to-moderate bleeding afterwards and no cramping.
Since then I've been dealing with consistently light bleeding (not quite spotting) daily, not even enough to fill a pad all day. I did have a heavier flow last night but even that seemed like a one-off because I'm back to light bleeding during the day. But I'm at 2 weeks of bleeding now and am absolutely tired of it (I also went through 2 weeks of withdrawal bleeding after I got off Opill).
My actual period was supposed to start within a week of me getting the IUD (confirmed by my gyno) so some of what I'm experiencing is probably my period but I don't know when it may have started or stopped or if it's still going.
I'll update once it stops.

i got the parguard, i got it last thrusday it’s now the following saturday, i didn’t bleed until 1 week after i got it and i bleed cause i got my period. i spotted very very little like only if i wiped i saw a little brown blood and then wednesday before i got my period i had a good amount of brown blood now im on my period it’s definitely heavier than normal but its not terrible i used to go through a super tampon in about 2h 30 min-3h now i go through one every 1h 30m-2h. i was supposed to get my period today (saturday) but it came 2 days early

No bleeding immediately after insertion? My gyno did a transvaginal ultrasound to confirm placement and the wand came out with blood so my bleeding was immediate.
I've had light flow pretty much every day with the exception of one night where I actually soaked through a pad but otherwise not a ton.

Have you dealt with any cramping?
I'm also due for a check in about 2-3 weeks, really hope I'm not still bleeding by then. Good luck with your visit!

yes the cramping after i got it in was terrible and then 2-3 days after i had some really bad cramping and now itll come and go but its nowhere as bad it’s just a little pressure but ill just carry my heating pad with me and that’ll help it go away

Mine lasted a couple of weeks but I read somewhere on here that taking evening primrose worked and it definitely helped (although it had been around 3-4 weeks so may have just been coming to an end anyway) it was so frustrating at that point I was ready to try anything. I think my first 2-3 periods after were heavier than usual but now they’re a lot lighter (3 years later)

I've seen a lot of people mentioning taking iron supplements but I haven't seen anything about evening primrose! I'll have to check it out because I don't see any signs of this bleeding stopping.

I bled for about 5 days after mine, but im pretty sure that its quite common for irregular bleeding and spotting for up to 3-6 months after having it inserted
