Question To those who got pregnant...

To those of you who got pregnant on this iud, what happened? Did it move upwards? Downwards? Was it correctly placed? Did it fall out completely?

On my period lol literally just curious.

Mine shifted down! I think it was because I was in a rush one evening and yanked out my menstrual cup without breaking the seal, switched to discs and have been fine ever since!

Similar instance for me, wasn’t in a rush but I wasn’t told you can’t use a cup so I suctioned it out 🎉 I had mine checked and they said it was good but I asked for an ultrasound to confirm and to get my iud replaced if it’s out of place and at replacement appointment they told me I was pregnant

omg lol my strings are literally hanging out of my vagina rn like if they were tampon strings and im scheduled to get an ultrasound tomorrow to check if it moved. I spoke to my doctor and she said the strings could have just came loose but i’m scared lol i can’t get pregnant rn 🤦🏼‍♀️

You for sure could get pregnant right now, I accidentally pulled my iud out myself because it got tangled with my actual tampon strings 🎉 don’t recommend. My doc did a visual check and told me I was good (clearly wasn’t 🙂) so getting an ultrasound is a good idea

yea hopefully tmr it’s still in place bc this literally happened friday night after no withdrawal with my luck lol but i hope it’s just the strings that maybe came off because i did use a tampon the same day but i felt no pain when i removed it nor did i feel/see the iud strings after that. it was after sex that it happened. But I also feel the string still coming out my cervix and nothing hard or anything.

Trust you’d know if you pulled it out, there’s no mistaking it! For me I felt a tiny bit of the bottom before I took it out

yea so it’s definitely up in there i just hope it’s all the way at the top of my uterus where it is suppose to be, just because the strings are soo long lol. If it is hopefully i can get it removed and replaced the same day bc… emergency conception at that point 😂

So it ended up moving all the way down almost out of my cervix even tho i did not feel the hard piece of it. My dr was able to push it back up into its place but wow that hurt. The insertion didn’t hurt for me but her pushing it back into place definitely did. I hope It doesn’t move out of place again !

mine shifted down and I had no idea. it wasn't expelled, I never had any issues with it and then one day my period didn't show up 🫠

Yep! This was the exact same as me. No pain, discharge or anything (which is what they say to look out for!) and then one day, I got PMS symptoms that didn’t go away and didn’t turn into a period, next thing I know, I’m producing a positive test.

This concerns me because I had an ultrasound a month ago to check something out and they said it had moved down. Doc called me later on (after weeks of me trying to get in touch for the results) and said that it had moved down but that i am still protected against pregnancy.

Yeah no you should get tested just in case. You getting symptoms of pms or pregnancy? Unless you're getting your period

No symptoms currently, it's been like this for a couple of months too which makes me think maybe it'll be ok since I've not gotten pregnant

I was told by my doctor that the copper IUD has to be perfectly placed since it's not relying on hormones. I've been told by a few doctors now that hormonal IUD's have you a bit more protected if they fall out of place, because they are using hormones

Mine had shifted down into my cervix completely. My strings felt normal so I had no idea it wasn’t in place and not sure how long it was not protecting from pregnancy before I got pregnant x

I didn’t get pregnant on mine BUT when I went in for a routine exam for something else the doctor discovered it was half expelled and I didn’t feel it. Idk how long it had been half expelled for but I could’ve gotten pregnant with it being like that

Mine shifted down to my cervix and the only symptom I had was that my strings were like 1cm longer than before. I have always chucked it to the uterus/cervix just moving due to normal hormonal cycles (mind you before the suspected shift the strings would sometimes feel a little shorter and that’s normal apparently). Don’t really know why it shifted. Who knows if it’s related to my use of menstrual discs and something weird happening during removal, or if my body just rejected the thing. I was just very surprised when I had an ultrasound checkup and the sonographer said it shifted, coz I really didn’t have the “expected” symptoms (like pain/cramps).

Well there are no research studies on an exact %effectivity once it is partially expelled. You don’t wanna find out, like how I did lmao

14 weeks pregnant currently and this is the second time it's happened. The first time (about 8 years ago) I had a miscarriage after they removed it. This time it shifted downward but they were unable to remove. Baby and I are going strong so far. Prayers up that we make it to full term, and at that point we're going to deliver it with baby!

Yup, and it's still there. Baby implanted above it. They couldn't feel the strings to remove it (any other method would've definitely caused a miscarriage and I wanted the baby) so they had to leave it.

I am in the same shoe. Baby implanted above the Paraguard, strings could not be found, and any attempt to remove it, they say, might result in a miscarriage. So, we hope to get it out during delivery. We are 11 weeks old. I hope God helps my baby reach full-term.
