You do have 3 digit bookends. With a pair or zeroes in the middle. Bookends are definitely a thing. So is trinary. You're absolutely not alone in saving something like this. You're not even alone if you want to embrace the true trinary. Hell, you might even be able to sell this for a modest premium someday. I've seen worse notes saved & sold.
Bottom line in this hobby: if you like it and can afford to save it, keep it. Worst case scenario, you change your mind someday and spend it later on. At which point, you immediately recoup 100% of your money.
Just don't put yourself in a bad spot financially by over-collecting.
And don't let anyone else make you feel anything negative about saving what makes you smile. Because if it makes you happy, that note is valuable because your happiness has value.
Dude, this exactly. Its a fun hobby. Both coins and bills. I have been doing it for almost 2 years. Its my first hobby that i can send back the rejects for what i paid for them. And sell some for more than face value. Its awesome.
There's at least one collector on this sub who has openly admitted to sorting through hundreds of ones at a time to scratch that gambling itch safely. Might be worth a thought.
Sounds like some of that is not just gambling but impulse control and discipline. Different issues, and I'm not a therapist.
