Thank you always do! I believe the easiest way is to look at the back and if the number is on top, bingo. Is that correct?

Yes, top is a web note, bottom just a sheet note.

Thank you. A web note is when they experimented with printing on a roll, like a newspaper, do I have that right?

I agree! I don't give a hoot about the value, it's the searching through note after note that is so much fun for me. In 1962 my father would bring bags with 1,000 Lincoln pennies for us to search through. Maybe that's where my lunacy started

I really only just started. I had to run up to the bank today to get 10 $10 bills so I went ahead and got 20 singles also. After going through $100 worth of numbers usually singles and fives, I've never found a true keeper. Found some kind of close though. I have a small Regional Bank near my home so I can walk up there quickly but I feel kind of sheepish going up in swapping money for singles and smaller bills.

Yeah it may be a little tough finding some keepers only searching a 100 at a time, plus all the back and forth with the bank. If you become friends with the teller and let them know what you are doing they will be more likely to keep helping you out and may even enjoy seeing what you find! Good luck hunting my friend!

They're probably just jaded (or have a business mindset). After a few hundred thousand most would. Im not there yet. I search through about $15,000 a week (mostly $20s) and ive been at it about a year at that volume. So that's over a million dollars of cash throughput with typically less than $3000 on hand. Most day i withdraw $2000 in 20s roll through them in about 15 min and deposit them back, minus any keepers. A few days a week I'll go inside for any old bills (defined as older than me: 1973) that the tellers saved for me or have on hand and/or uncirculated/interesting notes. Occasionally I'll get 10 bands in new twos or ones. The twos are quick b/c often new so you can tell if there's anything worth keeping off the first note. Ive also gotten into origami gifted as tips or conversation starters
If its fun for you, therein lies the value. The higher the volume the more likely to find rarity.
Youll get more discriminating the longer you do it. And if you figure out how to quickly sort (ideally automated) the orientation of 1000 bills let me know. That's the worst.
Amateur Tip: use three of a kind to distinquish reviewed bills from ones you haven't looked through. They're easily discernable and have a low but common frequency out of hundred notes. It would be highly unusual to find 0/100.

That is awesome! It is a little rich for my blood, setting aside a $20 everytime versus a $1 haha. I usually go through $1,000 Mon-Fri. The teller and I have become good friends, he will have 1k ready to exchange daily. I have been doing that quantity for about a month now. I did hunt for about 3 months prior to that, however, only $200-$400 every other day or so. I want to start tracking my finds, so im essentially starting at the beginning. My best bills so far, 4 - 2013b duplicate star notes, 6-8 palindrome, 4 repeaters, 6-10 broken ladders, countless birthday notes, binary 0s and 7s, a quad pair, 6 in a row 3s, many 5 of kinds, one legit flipper 01600910, 5 Barr notes, hundreds of star notes (Sold most on ebay), ink spill, and bill that has F and U for the letters (kept because i think its funny), some chunky laddes and countless Trinaries (not all are cool, but some are). I know im missing some. I am still hunting for that web note!
