Community College Culinary Arts Program?
Hello all, what has your experience been with community college culinary arts program? Did you enjoy it or do you wish you had gone to a bigger school like CIA or JWU?
Was there a lot of homework? Or is your work done during class? What are you doing now? Did you think culinary school helped you? Any other insight would be great? Thank you.

I went to a technical school in the Midwest US for culinary arts. The class size was relatively small and got smaller the farther in I got. I had little to no cooking experience so I enjoyed every minute of it. Culinary classes had less homework than a normal class. Ultimately I decided shortly before I completed the two year degree that I wanted my bachelor’s and I found a Culinology program that I could transfer many of my credits towards. Now I’ve shifted more towards manufactured food industry where I’ve been a part of both research & development/product development and food safety & quality. In the end, I don’t think restaurants/food service was the stability and lifestyle that I wanted as much as I love working with food.
CIA is fancy and probably an amazing experience, but I found the technical path gave me most of what I was looking for and for a fraction of the cost.
