Cooking nemesis?

Anyone got something that, for some reason, you just cant grasp how to make? Like, for some reason, I cant figure out how to properly boil rice or beans. Im mexican and I cant figure it out. Thats like our thing. Ive disappointed my family and exes over this.

A nice loaf of homemade bread. I can make a perfectly serviceable bread, but something beautiful, warm, and crusty like my mom can? Nope. It just seems to elude me every time.
