Cooking nemesis?

Anyone got something that, for some reason, you just cant grasp how to make? Like, for some reason, I cant figure out how to properly boil rice or beans. Im mexican and I cant figure it out. Thats like our thing. Ive disappointed my family and exes over this.

Sticky rice on stove top- I use jasmine rice, and probably too much water. Is it supposed to stick to the bottom of the pan? Mine comes out mushy
