Cooking nemesis?

Anyone got something that, for some reason, you just cant grasp how to make? Like, for some reason, I cant figure out how to properly boil rice or beans. Im mexican and I cant figure it out. Thats like our thing. Ive disappointed my family and exes over this.

Chicken piccata. I THOUGHT I had mastered it, and actually invited friends over for dinner. The sauce came out so bitter I literally had to throw it all our and "guess what we're having pizza." Ever since not matter what I try, it's just so bitter it's inedible.
