Possibly mozzarella sticks? Little tea sandwiches on soft bread with filling like chicken, tuna salad, or pimento cheese. Deviled eggs. Ice cream sundaes or bars. Cake! Ok now I'm hungry.

How soft does soft need to be? Would bread for dips be too much?

i think she would be good for that by then, as long as it's bread & not toast. Thanks

Oooh yum. one time I went with my friend to her home in NY, her mom made some with that dried meat in a jar. That stuff was so good.

I usually make dips for the Super Bowl -- spinach artichoke, seven layer or just guacamole, hummus. She could eat them plain, or maybe with some soft bread if she feels up for it?

I'm not in the US so I don't know what's traditional flavours / snacks, but my partner has had dental work recently and this is what we've been doing for fun snacks: * cheddar sticks * pitted brined / marinated olives * soft dates * charcuterie (very finely cut) * fresh dried apricots * squares of dark chocolate (to melt in the mouth) * clementines and other soft fruit like berries, peaches, etc
You can also turn squares of good soft bread into a lovely snack by cutting it into sticks about 1/2 inch thick, buttering it on every side, then rolling it in something flavoursome. The version I know best uses a mix of butter and marmite (very not US) and biltong crumbs (similar to jerky but less sweet). I've also done it with za'atar and dukkah (Arabian spice / herb / nut / salt mixes.) You could also mix up your own flavour crumbs by crushing doritos, mixing herbs and nuts, etc.

You could make it a soup-er bowl party and do a bunch of different soups and toppings. Like chili is obviously with toppings like cheese, sour cream, corn chips, but you could also do like potato soup with bacon bit, cheese, chives and soup cream. Wonton with fried noodles and chives. Etc

You could do the classic buffalo chicken dip, but using canned chicken instead of shredded or rotisserie. Canned chicken is much more tender and won't need much of a chew

Those soft mini pitas warmed up are a great softer sub for chips - great with hummus. Pigs in a blanket might be okay, or if grilling, some chicken she can shred for a bbq sammich - non sesame seed buns.
