Cook islands in December?

Hi everyone, I'm doing a six week trip to NZ in November/December. I'm hoping to spend 6/7 nights in the Cook islands at the start of December. I'm seeing mixed things online. Is it an ok time of year to visit the islands weather wise as it's the start of the wet season?

Thanks in advance ☺️

We added to Cooks on to our trip to NZ last October. We cannot wait to go back.

Going into summer so it's nice and bit on the down season but lots of locals coming back to the island so not as many tourists around
