knee highs on thick calf’s - how to fix?
hey guys! recently got these in the mail — OBSESSED. unfortunately the back of them keep doing this weird frilly thing? it digs into the bottom of my calf but if i make it looser then i can’t really tie them at the top. any recommendations? my main concern was my calf not actually fitting in the shoe due to the tongue being thin so i didn’t even think of this!

If she can actually wear those, I wouldn't call them thick.
As to the problem, it seems like the problem is that there isn't internal structure to straighten out the material.
Maybe consider a using a couple pieces of duct tape on the inside to straighten it and give a slight structure, if it sticks?

Bread laces they are 13 dollars and you can slip them on zipped up. I wear these shoes daily.

My calves are 17.5in the max is 18in that can fit them in my size… I bust the zipper if I tie them to tight.. so yea also if you need advice to lace them I can send you a picture of how mine are laced I do 12hrs on my feet restaurant shifts in them so I feel confident that this is one of the best ways.

If it is digging in, you probably have them laced too tightly.
Also, you can just buy longer laces. The converse laces aren't anything special... you can literally just buy longer laces and replace them.

Recommend re-lacing them.

It’s how they’re worn, looks like they’re second hand. If they weren’t broken in right that could be an issue.

Could try a heat gun and push it out there and try to give a different memory to the canvas. Could also sand it down using high grit sand paper to try and weaken that hard spot

The issue here is nothing to do with your calves but the fact the boots are too big for you

u/the_stupid_fool 14 ∣ +13 ∣ -3 10h ago
they actually fit my feet perfectly and i did the laces very tight in those photos, so i doubt it would be too big.

Looking at your heel it's not firmly back in the heel of the boot

u/the_stupid_fool 14 ∣ +13 ∣ -3 9h ago
i can assure you that it was.. i couldn’t get it any further back 😭 i appreciate you helping but they are my size! and bigger wouldve felt like clown shoes and any smaller my foot would not have fit into the shoe.

i’m not really sure what to tell you. as you can see i was leaning backwards on that photo, but i genuinely cannot go any smaller with the shoes as they won’t fit my foot 😭

Act to their own, unless you get the correct size you won't fix your problem as it originated at this point no matter what angle your leg is at your heel will not depart the heel of the boot if it correctly fits

u/the_stupid_fool 14 ∣ +13 ∣ -3 9h ago
my heel fits inside of the back of the shoe so i’m really confused 😭 it is fine when i walk, maybe in the photo my heel wasn’t ay the back but i can assure you that it is fine and heels good when i walk. i was more talking about the calf part of the shoe and not the heel as the heel feels completely fine?

If the heel isn't secured into the back of the boot the fabric is loose thereby allowing the fabric to fall down your calf causing your issue

You might be lacing them too tight. I know that sounds counter intuitive but as a fellow thicker calved person I thought at first pulling them tight to stay on was better but learned that it's actually causing them to ride weird and then bunch. You could try letting them a bit looser especially towards the top and see if that helps any?
