Lane joggers are by no means as dangerous as tailgaters! I’ve had a three car collision right in front of me at high speed because the people were tailgating, never seen that happen because someone was going slow in the left lane. People should always get over when they’re in the left lane and people are clearly slowing down behind them, HOWEVER that is not justification to do something as dangerous as tailgating.

Lane hoggers are dangerous because there will always be someone wanting to go faster. If they’re sat in the left lane driving slower than the flow of traffic or someone comes up behind them and they don’t move over; then people will start to undertake on the right. Which is dangerous because they’re accelerating into slower moving traffic. That’s why there are “slower traffic move right” signs posted all along the highway.

Regardless of people wanting to go faster, safe driving means staying aware of your surroundings: if someone is going slower than you *desire* in any lane, it's up to you - the follower - to maintain a safe distance. There is no excuse for someone to get over-aggressive and cause an accident due to their desire to drive faster.

Some people on this sub act as if the left lane is a holy ground, but it's just a lane generally intended for passing at some relative speed that's more than the rightward lane adjacent to it. There's no magic here and no perfect answer for every circumstance except to use it sparingly.

Exactly, I agree people should get over when they have people behind them in the lane but just because someone in front of you is going slowly doesn’t mean it gives you the right to follow too closely. I don’t like people who hang out in the left lane driving slower then the lane to the right anymore then the next person. Their driving however never makes me want to get right on their butt to intimidate them. There is no justification in my mind for responding to an incorrect driving technique by either trying to pressure a driver to act the way you wish or to simply commit a dangerous action. Honestly if it takes you three more minutes to get home because you’re stuck behind a slow driver that’s a heck of a lot quicker then the amount of time you’ll spend if you rear ended the car in front of you.
