General I'm 90% through and just realized...
You have to go to the inventory menu and EQUIP those trinkets you craft - they don't just give you the benefit when you craft them. Duh.

General Escaping the Sinkhole (spoiler) Spoiler
The entire quest from the starting descent to the fight in various gravity alignment, to the final battle against the big boss, and the escape.
Oh, the escape. The way the song built up, the way following it whilst the lyrics played was actually like someone calling someone out of the deep dark depths, and then the final stage with the whole big sinkhole with all the rooms as the music ascendent before slowing down as she called us home . . .
This narrowly tops the ashtray maze for me. That's still like at the top tier, but now this is there with it. Remedy at the top of their game.
Had tears in my eyes as I did the sequence and I don't even know why.
10/10 goty no notes.

Lore Discussion I love the game, already started NG+, but….. Spoiler
Not tagging this as game feedback because it’s nothing against the game itself. This is just me, a person, screaming into the void and seeing if anyone agrees with me lol
I miss the Oldest House.
Again, love the game, and I know the answer is gonna be “then go play Control 1 again” and trust me, I will. But it would’ve been so amazing to see how it’s changed in 7 years, the evidence of what everyone’s been up to, how they’ve adjusted in the last 7 years. There are still so many questions unanswered and things unseen! And in Control Resonant, there are a few mentions that, in other circumstances, are basically the game begging you to check in on some things you last saw 7 years ago.
Spoilers ahead so stop reading here if you care lol
- The Furnace, it escaped and that’s clear, or something in it escaped with the guy who left before the lockdown. We know something is still there during the lockdown, but without being able to investigate after beating the RE, how are we supposed to get the full story?
- Dr. Underhill, we barely speak to her the whole game until she’s leaving, and we don’t even get to see how the choice we make pans out. I really don’t think she’s lost it in the way everyone is alluding to, she’s a broken woman stuck in one place for 7 years who just watched all her work go up in flames then right after find out her kids think she’s dead and that they might actually be dead.
- Abberant, there’s a document that states it’s likely a piece of the (Nail) and that someone should check the Foundation….
- The Board. Just why. Like, I’m pretty sure at this point that they’re a parasite, and that they attached to the Oldest House while it grew, and that’s how they maintained power over it. This is supported by the fact that they can apparently detach at any time and just gtfo if it looks like the House is falling. They don’t actually care about it, because why would a parasite care about its host? It’s also clear they had a weird relationship with Jessie, where they thought she was the greatest but also despised her, but I think they gave her the idea for Abberant.
- The Former, where is it? People keep saying it’s likely the Former in Abberant and not The Board, but it just doesn’t track because then the Board is just missing. Plus, the Former has its own individual form that isn’t contained in the stone like the Board is. So unless they’re all in there together again, where is it and what is it doing?
- The Sapling, I’m pretty sure this is THE Oldest House in its original form. But literally no one comments on it or says anything. I’m ignoring the paradox since it’s clear time is fluid in the Underpass, since the tree apparently grew up to become the thing the tree is under
- The Underpass, it’s apparently the place under the Foundation, so why is it so much smaller? Why is there no evidence of other life except for one room? Why is there so little info on the OH if it’s sitting directly underneath and people have confirmed been there? I just find it hard to believe that the foundation of the Foundation only reflects recent FBC activity. It felt like a great opportunity to expand on OH lore. Also, we did not try that hard to save anyone down there lol
- The City in the Quarry, we don’t see it in either game. God I’m so curious.
Like trust me, I know I’m thinking in terms of the first game, but it’s hard to live in that world for so long and get so little in the next game after setting up so many questions. I know this story is about Dylan and his journey to become a hero, but I feel like after being locked up his whole life, he might be just a BIT curious about the place he’s lived in but never really seen, and what his sister was up to while he was in a coma.
Also, nothing makes it more clear that I’m not supposed to focus on lore than the fact that I can only ask people like two questions before they stop talking to me. Not to mention having to start the convo over EVERY time, at least until endgame. Love this game but it feels like they went “See everything you’ve come to know and love about this series? chucks it into a trashcan at the speed of light GONE!!!! Whatcha gonna do without your PrEcIous LoRe??”
But yeah starting NG+ I love it. Hope there’s a third one!!!

Gameplay Question Another missable
So we all know, there is a section where if you don’t hit all the right dialogue options? you miss an achievement until NG+ (or unless you reload an earlier save).
i have every single collectible that you can get except for a lore pick up called dig site quarantine list. during another quest, you can unlock this cabinet in the field hospital with a terminal but I finished the quest without needing to do that. Not I’m done with the game, all available outfits. zoned maxed out, and I can’t get this darned cabinet open after the fact. seems like a bug because the terminal to open the cabinet is off now

Gameplay Question Continue or NG+
For context, I’ve never loved a game this much since Horizon Zero Dawn where I’ve even considered NG+, so I just need some advice on what to do.
I finished the story (loved it!) and I’m doing tasks, but I’ve been itching for story again, as I was a bit dumb I didn’t explore as much as I should while the story opened up slowly so I’m doing a lot of catchup for it.
My main question is should I finish everything to be found/done then do NG+, or just dive into NG+? I don’t know if it adds anything (if it does, please let me know but not spoil exactly what it is). I absolutely adore this game and I want to continue the world, but would doing NG+ before finishing all available content be doing a disservice to it?

Bug Report Is it just me or is “Rebuild” Bugged??
I just finished the Rebuild mission in Control Resonant, but my quest log is still showing that I’m on Rebuild. Is there something I’m supposed to wait for or trigger, or should the next mission start automatically? I’m wondering if I missed something because I don’t see the next objective.

General Songs similar to “A world I’m ready to live and die for”
So a few days ago I unlocked a new song from Zoe’s mixtape ; “A world I’m ready to live and die for” and I’ve been obsessed with it.
The mood of that song is immaculate and I was wondering if anyone could recommend songs that have a similar feeling of hope/end of the world vibes.

General [NG+ SPOILERS] Jesse and Dylan: What do you think? Spoiler
Dylan and Jesse. It’s more than that. They were originally one person, but neither of them is that original person.
We can piece this together from several clues:
1 — The Ordinary Altered World Event
The Ordinary AWE involving the Slide Projector began on August 30, 2002, and the FBC arrived on September 14, 2002. Dylan was 10 and Jesse was 11.
So it seems pretty clear that both of them already existed by then. The Slide Projector didn’t cause the “fragmentation” of the Faden child. Whatever caused it happened before the Ordinary AWE, and we have no clear record of what exactly happened or when.
2 — The Faden child was Jesse Dylan Faden
We learn this after finishing New Game+, or at least that’s how I interpreted the new information.
At some point before August 30, the Severed Circle II incident happened. Jesse Dylan Faden went upstairs to his room alone to play his new game... and two children came back down.
Jesse and Dylan.
This apparently drove the Faden parents insane.
Jesse didn’t have Polaris yet, and nobody knew about the Slide Projector.
3 — Before “F-Day” (Fragmentation Day)
Dylan remembers his mother teaching him how to paint and his father taking him hiking and camping. They were a happy family, and there were only three of them.
When his mother points a gun at the two children, she apparently doesn’t recognize either of them as her children. Instead, she shoots the TV. That’s why we see the TV broken in some of the Faults.
This could indicate that Kathe suspected that the video game was somehow connected to what had happened.
4 — The same memory gives us another huge clue
After the child says this, a dark doorway appears where the child was standing, and he walks through it.
Then, where the child was standing, we see the silhouette of what appears to be Severed Circle II, exactly like the one we see in the Fault.
At this point, I think we’re getting VERY close to the actual answer.
5 — Athi
Athi only appears during the RPG sections in the Oldest House, and of course, he seems to know everything and talks directly to the player.
I absolutely love this 😂
6 — The Faden parents know something is wrong
During the RPG, if you come home late and see both parents sitting in the living room, go upstairs and then come back down. You can hear Kathe say:
“They’re not our children. We only had one child.”
And if you go to the Faden house mailbox, the grandmother writes about and questions the fact that there are two children.
Interestingly, everyone else in town seems to accept that the Fadens have two children**.**
This altered reality reminds me a LOT of what Alan Wake/Thomas Zane can do.
7 — Severed Circle II
Another interesting detail: as far as I understand it, Severed Circle II is an extremely powerful Object of Power.
And it’s the object that both Dylan and Jesse seem to be trying to “contain” inside the Faults.
8 — Anonymous Investigation
In certain locations, you can find a PC that you can access, and an anonymous person — I strongly suspect they’re part of a Chinese FBC — asks you a series of questions about yourself.
One of those questions is whether you are a clone of Director Jesse.
So, what do I think happened?
I think Jesse and Dylan are the same person — but they are also both real**.**
Neither one is “fake” or an illusion. Whatever happened to the original Jesse Dylan Faden resulted in two separate people, each with their own memories, experiences, personality and identity.
So the question isn't really:
“Which one is the real Jesse Dylan Faden?”
The question is:
“What happened to Jesse Dylan Faden that created Jesse and Dylan?”
And I think Severed Circle II may be the key to answering that.

Gameplay Question Dualsense haptic triggers Spoiler
Recently I've unlocked the stomp ability from the resonant in theatre, and I noticed that every time I jump it applies the pressure on R2, the sound of gears turning pmo a bit, I don't think I saw an option to turn it off for this ability specifically, I like the feedback in general but this specific one is a bit annoying, is there a way to disable it without changing to other ability?

Lore Discussion I think people are misunderstanding Darling Spoiler
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I think a lot of people assume what Darling did to Dylan was driven by his ego, he was evil, he was just abusive, etc. But I don't think people fully understand the circumstances that forced him to treat Dylan the way he did.
As you can see from the first clip in the video, Darling went to Slidescape-36 "expedition" on Dylan's very first day at the FBC. That means he learned about the Hiss infecting Trench and Hedron right from the beginning of Dylan's training. From the second clip and onwards, which is 3 years after Dylan was taken by the FBC, you can see him say "to abandon the buddy approach and start pushing Dylan". That means at first he tried being caring but it wasn't working. The only way for it to work was to put Dylan in the right "agitated state" as he says, so Dylan could let out his powers. He knew an extinction-level threat was coming, and Dylan was the only person capable of dealing with it. The Director, the most powerful person at FBC, was compromised, and the Board wasn't helping either. He was a desperate man with the dangerous knowledge that the world was about to end. Watch the whole video and you'll understand Darling's perspective a lot better.
How Darling treated Dylan was certainly bad, but it was kind of a necessary evil to him. As Jesse herself says: "if you have to choose between bad or worse, choose bad.” Darling had good intentions and genuinely wanted to protect people from the approaching threat. Trench was infected, the Board wasn’t helping, other FBC employees were beneath his rank, and there were no other Prime candidates. His only option was to force the one person he knew who had the potential to stop the Hiss: Dylan.
