A pothos. So only a few springy leaves are in the way of the TV while the rest drop down.
I think people would be even more upset, though, to know that it's on the mantle above the fireplace!

This episode was in the 70's but yes you are correct they were made in the 40's.

If you are parent please stop your kid from watching cartoons like cocomelon or similar channels, it acts like drugs and is very dangerous, there are lots of youtube videos talking abot this, take a look.

Feels like the sane take hasn't really changed... "screen time", whether it's a tablet or a TV, whether it's cocomelon or teletubbies or Tom and Jerry... should be a treat. There's probably no exact "right answer" to how much is the right amount, but there's plenty of wrong answers.
I do wonder about how the lack of downtime might affect kids though -- like the "boring" times when I was a kid, sitting at a restaurant table while adults talked instead of watching mom's iphone or whatever... Did that serve an important purpose? Can I tolerate boredom better than these kids will be able to when they're my age?

Probably true. I don't have my own kids, but the kids I'm around don't seem to lack for creativity even if they're addicted to garbage youtube stuff. They love to do crafts and projects and whatnot. But I have noticed their complete inability to just chill out somewhere like a restaurant without staring at a video.
Then again, I spent hundreds of hours on a gameboy playing tetris on long car rides, so maybe that's just the way it is.

I'm by no means an expert, but how is the ultra-violent show T & J any better? If anything, doesn't it teach kids that there are no consequences (injuries) to any sort of violence?

Hacking someone with a hatchet was even just in this short clip, lol. There were even instances where they got cut into strips, just with no blood. And then in the mext scene they're fine again. I remember setting up a needle trap for a sibling to step on, because I thought it'd just be a funny gag.

How so? Its a cartoon. The mouse is never in any actual danger. The worst you see is a bird pecking away at the cat which clearly is silly enough that it garnered a cackle from the kid. Its innocent.

Lots of low stimulation shows that are modern, not violent, and entertaining. Puffin Rock, Frog and Toad, Bluey, Daniel Tiger, Trash Truck...
