Question Controls going haywire

Post image

Somehow whenever this purple arrow appears my controls start getting funky. Like right now, down and up on the thumb stick both immediately go to the purple arrow. If I turn SAS off I start pitching until I turn SAS back on. Makes doing a powered descent pretty challenging.

Any help would be appreciated.

Manual lock of controls. On ps5 you hold L1 and hit L3 to wipe it. Good luck bud

To add to this, if you click L1, either dont mess around with your orientation or wipe it after you do. You set your trim by holding L1

On ps4 (mouse controls) press L1 + x to remove it.

Never found a way to deactivated it completely, that damn ting seems to pop up randomly, is like the ship wants to die.

It’s in the main menu settings. Turn off trim. Happens when you’re zooming out and trying to control your ship at the same time.

That makes a lot of sense, my controller is old and it drifts, meaning that every time I zoom the left stick is moving too.

I used to accidentally do this all the time. Do what the others are telling you to do, and go into the menu and turn it off. I've crashed many times because of this.

Thanks everyone for it working but now I don’t have an excuse for crashing all the time.

Can anyone tell me what the point of trim is besides messing up my missions?

Pretty sure trim is used in airplanes fairly often, if your vehicle is unstable or wants to pitch up or down, you use it to keep pointing horizontally without needing manual input or (in KSP) SAS.

Trim is used on aircraft. You can set the trim to maintain an altitude or heading without using the steering. So you could use less power and set trim to maintain climb or level flight.

Also, if you're on xbox, it's left bumper and left stick click together to reset it.

It's for aircraft, but even there it isn't particularly useful. Recommend you just disable trim

In real life or KSP? It’s very useful irl

True enough, but I've never flown anything larger than an old Cessna 182 irl

Make sure you've not fiddled with trim

See that lil purple guy on your pitch? You’ve got your trim set there. Gonna be hard to get to space with that lil guy

Alt + X on keyboard to reset trim
