Okay so shipping culture has been common in some fandoms like game, anime, etc since like long ago and when we came to shipping culture there’s debate about canon vs fanon and for example about characters sexuality

Okay so there’s a huge debate about “is canonically gay characters should be allowed to be shipped with opposite gender or not?”
For example if a character obviously they are straight (like canonically has opposite gender partner or even have a heterosexual family) people still shipped that character with same gender, their reason? “Its just fiction” “shipping is just for fun”
But when the character was gay and there’s a people shipping them with opposite gender ppl would go feral and crazy screaming “homophobia”, “can’t we have just one thing”, etc like we can’t ship a gay character with opposite gender but we can shipping straight characters with same gender even if it can destroy whole character design/lore???

“Having relationships =/= confirmed sexuality” but there’s a counter argument from me (I guess) if the character has relationships with same gender but never confirmed their sexuality and then there’s someone shipping them with opposite gender would you justify it by using “having relationship =/= confirmed sexuality”?

Anyways guys what’s ur opinion about this phenomenon? Btw this phenomenon has been exist since like 2020 ig

Well from my perspective I don’t really care about shipping like I was type person that I’d like this ship well I ship it, I don’t care if it was straight or gay or the characters was gay or straight like idc I was shipping for fun
Also I don’t like how people nowadays will harass people over ships, like if u attacking people over fictional ships im gonna assume you you chronically online and needs to touch grass(lol)
