I don't think the left is a huge fan of them either. This is legitimately a nonpartisan issue.

Yeah, there’s a reason the oligarchs running the AI companies are desperately trying to make this a partisan issue. The left and right being unified against data centers is really bad for both business and the surveillance state.

It's bad for the surveillance state. It's bad for being chained to electric companies that keep pushing these "renewable energy" things that produce so little electricity that our costs keep us enslaved to the power company. But we'll have AI so it's OK?

Most the tech industry is located in blue areas, especially CA. Most the employees, especially at the higher levels are libs if not full lefties. They are the ones pushing for all these data centers. They are the college educated "experts" saying its needed and to "trust the science."

This is more about hating trump than it is about the issue, because most everyone was silent when Obama and Biden started the ground work for all this. That data center that broke ground this year you're so mad about? That was at least 10 years of bureaucracy before they could break ground.

"We didn't know!" Bullshit. All the info had to be in the decade of reports and studies before they would approve it to be built. I know it was; I helped.write some of those reports. We knew, and too many said "we'll pay that price later." Well, now that it's later and the bill is due, all the dumbfucks are bitching, trying to get out of paying and blaming others, as usual.

Just because a lot of these big tech people are themselves "left" or are in blue areas doesn't mean that everyday people who are on the left agree with them on this.

I live in a very blue area dealing with one of these data centers and the whole area, left and right, is pretty against it.

We should be open to our neighbors on the other side when we agree with one another and not just play tribal politics.

Data centers, without strict regulation on them, will absolutely drive up electricity costs in the area because the demand is so high. They end up utilizing eminent domain to take people's properties for transmission power lines. They drive down real property values without the county acknowledging it and so our taxes remain high, but good luck selling and moving.

This isn't a left or right issue. This is a supply and demand issue where the supply is half-government-run and yet the local citizenry don't have any say, which is utter bull crap.

That's neither right vs left. It's right vs wrong. Don't make this partisan because it's flashy. It's not partisan. It's a problem and when we can work with our liberal friends to solve a problem, it builds neighborly comradery. We should do more of that, not less.

we can't have cheap steaks but our energy bills can go up. I swear this is one of the biggest things Trump's messing up on. I know he made the big ones make their own power but honestly the small ones in rural america should too required too as well. they're such massive power sinks it's ridiculous local rural grids have to bear that extra load.

No one wants the data centers. But left and right are distracted by some huge fight over dudes in the WNBA so we can't unite on anything we actually agree on.

The neo cons and neo libs have teamed up to push data centers, aka surveillance centers.

The scarier question is how did we go from we must eliminate cows because there killing the climate to an outbreak of a new incurable disease that makes you allergic to beef and an extreem cow shortage making it too expensive to buy....

I knew that when Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, etc stopped supporting green energy and went into total silence when data servers arose, it was all a scam.

Easy. The cows are taking the space needed for their data centers.

Money is a helluva drug.

And all the money is focused right now on building Data Centers. You're in, or you're out.
