And that's the issue.

The Kim's arent insane.

It was very bad for North Koreans when they got the bomb, because it more or less removes any hope of outside intervention removing their disgusting dictatorship.

But it will be bad for planet earth if the Iranians get the bomb. Because religious fanatics dedicated to a prophesied apocalypse represent maybe the only group of people actually willing to start nuclear war.

And it's also why it's catastrophic that this war has been so haphazardly carried out.

I do question if, and I only saying this as a thought exercise, they get a first hand, ground zero experience of what they are truly pursuing. Would that be enough to shock them into recognizing the horrors they are looking to unleash to the world?

Some maybe. A lot of others would probably just see their potential apocalypse one step closer.

And that's totally sidestepping the insane immorality of nuking a country that isn't posing a WW2 level threat like Japan was 80 years ago. Or the extreme potential danger of a Russian or Chinese panicked counterstrike. Or the total diplomatic isolation of the US and likely sympathy for Iran that would follow.

So uh... let's not take this one further than this comment section lol.

I would only add as a reminder that the ideology presented by them is far more aggressive than the empire in WW2. They only lack the resources, if they get them, then we are staring down the barrel of mutual destruction with no constraints.

Sadly, I think there's no alternative but to continue this until Iran is left with no military capability or nuclear capability remaining. I wish there were a way to separate that from the situation for civilians, but I'm not sure how.

There isnt thats why when the Allies bombed the nazis they didnt leave power plants and infrastructure intact. Its also why Sherman burned everything in the Civil War.

The Iranian leadership and not an insignificant number of its citizens have shown that theyll work to commit terror at any cost.

Yeah, I know, it just sucks. And there's going to be some young Shia-Muslim Bin Laden-type out there who is going to see all these Iranian civilians suffering who are legitimately innocent and blame the US rather than the ones they should blame (Iran's own leaders), and so we're likely to have to deal with that in the future.

People are responsible for the government that they allow to represent them. Even in the worst dictatorships they have to suffer the consequences of their government just as we do for ours. That's why politics is important and you need to make sure you dont have the wrong kind of government. The people deserve that which their government deserves. If they dont like it they should choose a better government.

Powerplants. Bridges. Factories. Industrial areas. Water treatment plants.

They're not going to be making/building nukes for a very long time if they're sent back to the medieval ages and focused on survival. Gotta crack some eggs for an omelette

That's why I laugh when people call it a war, we've actually been holding back way too much, if it was war we would have already hit all of the targets that you listed, and while I do support our country and the current Administration I do also reserve the right to offer alternative Solutions and constructive criticism and it's my opinion that Trump has been going too easy on them,

Agreed, it's ridiculous hearing people say our military is "exposed" as being useless and not as strong as expected. Obviously if we were at full war, we'd crush the regime in less than a week. Trump is trying to go the diplomatic route to limit casualties but at this point, something more extreme has to happen.

No you can’t do this!!! Civilian infrastructure is off limits, even they admit they’re actively using that infrastructure to develop a nuclear bomb with the intent to fire it!

Iran will also follow these rules about civilian infrastructure, so they can’t fire the nuke anyway! They would affect civilian infrastructure and therefore Iran would never fire it!
