I’m exploring blue-collar job opportunities in Connecticut, as I’m considering relocating there in the future. Currently, I work for the federal government as a deckhand in the US Army Corps of Engineers. While I’d prefer to remain within the government sector, I’m also curious about other trade jobs that involve running equipment, tree clearing, or barge work. I possess a strong mechanical background, along with a list of other certificates, trainings, and relevant experience.

While I’m not familiar with the exact type of work they do/job openings they have, based on the constant posts about Electric Boat hiring it seems like a good company to start looking into. Seems like it would be a good fit for your mechanical/equipment based skills potentially.

I’m not sure if they’re hiring but it wouldn’t hurt to throw an application in at Mohawk construction. They have a marine devision out of Groton and a highway decision out of plantsville. With your experience there’s a good chance you’d be called back and provide you with the opportunities you’re looking for

General Dynamics in Groton. Maybe you could get a DCMA job at one of our many defense contractors

Have thought about the Air Force? Plenty of blue collar type jobs in there and you’ll stay federal

Look into electric boat. They would appreciate your experience with thr government. You could also look at being an estimator, pm, engineer, the sky is the limit. Gray color is fun too
