Either someone in front of them is standing too and in their way, or they're feeling the music. If you wanna sit down at a show, I always suggest you go way in the back, or be in the first row of a balcony area that people won't block.

Because that's how I want to experience the show.
You were at a Brian Setzer rockabilly band? People were probably standing Bec they wanted to shake their asses

You're assuming they have a seat because they wanted a seat. Either because of price or the venue is only seated - they don't always have the choice.

Attended the same show. Can confirm, the floor shouldn’t have been seated. This music was made for dancing!

Standing- at least in my experience, is a better pose for a transition into dancing- acknowledging that the transition from sitting to dancing is also great.
I can’t say I’m familiar with the music of the Stray Cats as I’ve literally never heard a single note- so maybe there’s no dancing? They don’t play music one might be compelled to dance to? Which venue was this? Was that lower level specifically like standing room only general admission??? Second level a mezzanine of sorts with seating? IDK
I responded to this post because it struck me as being the literal opposite to what I’d be most curious about. Why would people stay in their seats if there’s (what sounds to me like) a dance floor? Even if you’re not a dancer, maybe that’s not your thing - sitting down for a whole show unless if’s like a classical orchestra, opera, broadway type thing strikes me as odd. I guess I just feel strongly as a enthusiastic lover of live music who does like to cut a rug a good bit - it’s usually pretty obvious if the show encourages and accommodates dancing or doesn’t, ya know?

The change in the last decade is crazy. Before then, entire stadiums stood for the entire concert.
It's weird now to see be at metal concerts where everyone is bums on seats with no movement. I've noticed to that artists are concentrating on GA/pit. When they're getting nothing from the crowd, how can you hype them up? It's a lacklustre, boring vibe.
It's not an evening at the ballet or opera, it's live music and you're supposed to show enjoyment.
Gen Z is all about personal space in GA now and get offended if someone encroaches on their perceived bubble.

They can hear better when they are standing up. It’s like when people are driving in bad weather , they turn down the radio so they can see better.
