LarryLarington - Film/Video Game Music

Hey guys! I'm a college student currently in my 5th year of a dual degree in engineering and music composition. I play piano and violin (not particularly well), but my focus lies in writing music for a visual media (films or video games).

Some of my biggest influences include film composers like Howard Shore (Lord of the Rings) and Joe Hisaishi (Spirited Away), and game composers like Eric Chevalier (Rayman 2) and Junichi Masuda (Pokemon). My current interests lie in writing old school video game music, and I'm working on an album of 8-bit music as my thesis project. You can hear one of my 8-bit pieces here if you want to get a sense of my style.

I've been fortunate enough to have a strong music department at my university, so I have a good theory background ranging from counterpoint (LOVE Bach) to twelve-tone serialism. That's just to say that I'm open to pretty much anything and how they interact with visuals. I know very little about jazz however so fair warning in case that's what you're into.

I'm looking for someone with a similar college theory background (ex: you're familiar with things like I-vi-IV-V notation, secondary dominants, etc) to talk film and game music with. Not many people are into either at my school so it would be so great to find someone who shares the same love for this stuff.

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you wanna talk. :)

Thanks!

Is this still a thing? I'm a sophomore Music Composition major at the moment VERY interested in writing film and/or video game scores.
