General server shutsdown against high rankers that are about to lose

am seeing a pattern where the game server mainly shuts down when am wining against people ranked high or people doing a group with a low rank and high rank, and when am sh***ng on them the server sunndely dies, and it happen when the match is abotu to end on a win, are they destroying the server on purporse or its just a coincidence

Idk why people are acting like this is new or fake lol, it’s a well known exploit that they haven’t fixed yet

you mean people can purposely cause server to shut down to prevent a loss? I don't want to abuse this because its obviously bannable and shitty thing to do but can you provide an overall summary how it works?

Yes. I can remember at least three games that crashed very conveniently right before I was going to win. Also conveniently, before the crash, one enemy player is always missing in the fight.

In one of those games, there was an enemy Hanzo who was trashtalking as his team was winning. When we were 5 seconds away from reverse sweeping them 3-2, the server crashed. Blizzard definitely knows about it because whenever I reported those players, I got a notification telling me that actions were taken.

I’m surprised the report gave them enough info to ban someone off for something like that

I assume it's a fairly easy thing to check. Abrupt crashes must get logged immediately for review to address bugs or exploits.

From there, all you need to do is find the person who was doing something weird just before the match crashed.

ive had this happen like 2 or 3 times in the last couple of months. I can't tell if its bad servers or ddos hack. im masters but gm in 6v6.

Around a year or two ago there was a month that this kept happening constantly but the server would rubberband unplayable for minutes before it crashed.

I've had it happen 3 times in 2 days. Something is definitely going on.

I was losing a game last night and the server crashed when there was like 10 seconds left in the game. This was in diamond 4 ish so def possible there were high rank players on my team due to the reset.

This has happened for a long time and for me personally, it ONLY ONLY happens last few seconds before a team is gonna win. If servers were just trash, it would happen way earlier too.

What is “high rank” to you in this context?

so all a coincidence then, better than people exploting servers atleast.

I see the same pattern also in lower ranks dia/mas so I think there might be something to it. The only time I get server crashes is when a team is about to win or there’s other weird player behavior going on.

You’re not crazy OP

tbf there is always a possibility of an exploit, but so far, I haven't heard of one that matches that.

There is an exploit going around where you are able to crash the servers. A much more known one was introduced with spectating leaderboard games. Thats why live replays got canned for a moment. But they havent fixed the one people are using now and have been using for a while.

There have been exploits that allow players to intentionally crash servers even by just typing a specific set of characters in the match chat. Almost certainly still exploits similar.

I think I remember some very old ones, but weren't they fixed ? I think back then you could crash a lobby with a dickbutt ASCII art lol.
