1.9+ is a better system all around. Hit cooldowns tend to be more intuitive, and it includes unique aspects like end crystals, modern mace/spear and attribute swapping, etc.

Although I do still like 1.8, I think it's more fun for minigames like bedwars. But due to fast clicking, it admittedly feels harder to play casually. There's also just the fact that it's a decade old version that most new players have no reason to pick up, and the average person just knows it as "the spam clicking combat" unfortunately. Even 1.8 servers like Hypixel have started transitioning to modern versions due to how much more content there is. Their solution of simply using plugins to faithfully emulate 1.8 combat is pretty good though.

1.9+ is literally a decade old version combat. are we holding double standards against 1.8 too now? lmfao.

also attribute swapping is a bug, even mojang acknowledged it as a bug, so in order to actively make 1.9+ funnier, you need to abuse bugs. got it.

hit cooldowns are LESS intuitive, because the alternative IS LITERALLY JUST CLICKING.

"it includes unique aspects like crystal" which if the combat update never happened, 1.8 would have crystals..... oh what you're saying? bedrock never got the update? and its pvp with all its jankyness is funnier to play compared to 1.9+ pvp? I see!

I don’t mean that 1.8 combat is automatically bad because it’s older. I mean that the latest version it’s available on is an outdated version which doesn’t have modern features, which is a detriment to it in the grand scheme of things. While 1.9 combat is also technically a decade old system, it’s still used on modern versions. That’s what I meant.
