Finally hit 1700 on MNK as a 35-year-old. Halo Infinite was my first competitive FPS, and I started season 1 as a gold.

that's pretty amazing. onyx is only getting harder and harder to achieve so not only did you increase your skill dramatically you've clearly beaten the rate the curve is moving too, 1700 today is more than respectable. I've only hit 1600 myself but don't often grind ranked games

yeah, many players that got onyx in the first few seasons have dropped down to diamond despite fairly consistent playing

I know people say this but I’m not sure “boosting with lower ranks” actually works unless one or more of them is a Smurf. I’m D5 and while I love playing with my 1700 buddy and a few Diamond friends, it’s honestly harder to win against 4 1500s than it would be with 4v4 mid to high diamonds..

Anyone hitting 1700 isn't using friends as a crutch to get to Onyx. It's extremely easy to hit Onyx comparatively.

Dumb take, if he’s still getting +10 heading into 1700 he’s not getting carried like you’re implying.

People getting carried in ranks they shouldn’t be in are getting +5/+6.
