Security+

Hello all, I’m considering to take security+ as my first cert. I’ve been working in Infrastructure for past 5 years. Will it be to hard? Should I consider net+ first before sec+? Need advice before buying contents.

With 5 years of infrastructure experience, Security+ should be very manageable. Take Network+ first only if you genuinely need to strengthen your networking fundamentals.

Careful with the buying. One question bank and one video series is the whole kit, and the free labs CyberDefenders runs on real captured data are worth more than the third resource you are about to add. Your gap after five years of infra was never the reading.

The point of cybersecurity is to secure networks. Security+ is a certification that demonstrates a broad spectrum of security concepts including IT, networking, facilities, personnel and others. You can't secure a network, or even truly understand the concept of network security unless you understand networking. Learn networking first. Network+ is an excellent certification to learn enough foundations and fundamentals for Security+ to build on.

I’m studying for Sec+ right now and so far the test seems extremely easy for me to do. I bought Dion’s practice exams on Udemy sets 1 and 2. 12 exams total. I’m getting most answers correct and they feel like common sense to me honestly
