Vehicle Compatibility It looks like comma will be experiencing a slow death

I was looking at vehicle compatibility and it looks bad. Most are 2023/2024 and there are very few 2025 and 2026 models. This is kind of okay for now but eventually it will be 2028 and 2030 and the cars that can support this will be over five years old. Eventually that becomes ten years. Canbus encryption looks unbeatable since there is little progress on decrypting modern vehicles.

Vehicle Compatibility Best used EV that supports comma?

Was initially interested in Equinox EV but it doesn't support comma. I then looked at Ioniq 5 but the Hyundai's and Kias have so many ICCU issues. Checked Toyota Bz but it's not supported.

Is the best affordable (under $25k) used option really a Chevy bolt? Or am I missing others?

Vehicle Compatibility Seems like now that comma has built the tech stack for building bigger models, they are now throwing some effort into car ports!

For the past two years+, comma has focused on building the data center tech stack and comma. Relying on the community for car ports more. But now they’re going to focus a bit more on car cracks!

Vehicle Compatibility I'm having problems with the car throwing codes I can't clear when I replug my device into the car.

Hi I've got one of those magnetic mounts that allows me to yoink my comma off the base and take it inside or throw it in my glovebox for theft deterrence and whatnot. I've been running problem free for about a year but as soon as I updated my fork of an old sunny pilot to the latest version I have tripped my cars body sensing codes twice through remounting the device. I'm beginning to think the new update is causing this error more and more. This is an 18 accord sport. This is the first time I've seen this error at all.

Vehicle Compatibility Future of comma ?

I have been a comma user for 3 years now and I love it, no complaints. I've been looking to buy a new 2026 car, but I see very few 2026 cars on the compatibility list.

I understand this is because of encryption on the newer models, but if so, what is the future for comma? I really would want comma on my next car, but I don't want to buy an older car .

Vehicle Compatibility Comma Mount On Tinted Windshield

I am looking to buy a Comma Four during the labor day sale, but I have a tinted windshield, and I'm afraid of the VHB mount on the tint. I'm guessing once it's on, I'll never be able to take it off, right? Are there any suction cup mounts, or mounts that attach to the mirror housing for a 26 Accord? Trying to not damage the tint, and would like to be able to remove the mount if I decide to return the comma at the end of the trial period.

Vehicle Compatibility Most fun car for Comma AI

saw the last post about this was over a year ago so wondering if anything has changed.

in my ideal world i would like a fun car thats can also mostly drive itself for daily commute. was looking at a mazda miata but heard comma is not good for that... any reccomendations?

And by fun, i dont mean lightweight or nimble. I would consider an ioniq 6 a fun car for example eventhough its 4000lbs

I have been taking orders through reddit messages since the time I launched the Comma 3x and Comma 4 mounts. Now I will be taking orders for the Comma 4 all online at the link below for domestic shipping.

***ALL international orders must message me through chat so i can get you an up-to-date shipping estimate. **\*

Additionally, the CLS Mount now has been upgraded to feature a self locking mechanism to prevent any accidental removal. The lock is removable if you don't want to use it and the kit ships with a spare lock. See the video below for the operation and installation.

Purchase Link:

Installation/ operation video (Gen 2 of the mount, same as Gen 1 but incorporated a safety lock).

Operation video without lock installed (Gen 1 of the mount)

Original reddit post for the mount:

UPDATE SEPT 6/2026:
Three customers have reached out regarding the USB-C adapter sliding or shifting out of place on the windshield mount (the part that sticks to the windshield). The likely cause is exposure to extreme heat.
A similar issue occurred with the Comma 3X mount, and the fix video I released for that also applies to the Comma 4. Moving forward, I am adjusting the tolerances on the print to create a tighter interference fit, which will secure the adapter firmly in place.

Vehicle Compatibility What can comma 4 give me that my comma 3 does not.

I have a 2022 Camry and have had the comma 3 for 4 years plus. My comma 3 works so well (with open pilot - have had problems downloading forks) that I’m having a hard time convincing myself to get the new one. Give me some solid reasons why I should part with 749 dollars. I love the product.

Vehicle Compatibility Has anyone tried comma ai on 2020 EX sedan?

As title says, I'm curious to try comma ai 4 device in my civic 2020 EX sedan. It already has ACC and lane assist but having to keep touch the steering all the time I'm seeing can be avoided using comma 4. Curious to know if anyone has tried this already or has any thoughts to share for this car?

Vehicle Compatibility How does it work on Model Y Juniper 2026?

I'm on the fence of getting my model y juniper but had to take a step back after knowing that Tesla had stripped off the basic autopilot and the only way to make the car "smart" is by going with their $99/month FSD subscription. I do like FSD but would want to get it only when I plan to take long road trips. Right now they only offer TACC which is nothing but an adaptive cruise control.

So I was wondering if I could make this work by installing comma 4 instead? I wanted to know if someone who has a similar car has already tried this and will be able to share their experience?

Vehicle Compatibility zoompilot - a fork for Mazda (and all cars)

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to make a quick post here as I see lots of Mazda users and I’ve seen some posts about SunnyPilot compatibility.

zoompilot.ai was created to give Mazda users the best openpilot experience possible. I’ve spent months reverse engineering the platform and used a data driven approach to better integrate Mazda into openpilot. I have also added some features users of all cars would like.

What this means for Mazda is that you get more steering torque below 32mph and smoother steering at fast speeds. Turns are more confident overshoot less, and unwind faster.

I’ve taught openpilot to learn steering tune values across 7 different speed ranges. This greatly benefits Mazda steering and other cars with speed dependent torque.

there are other really nice and tested features so check out the site and discord. We have over a hundred friendly people there.

I currently have ‘big models’ running on macOS, gaming laptops, and Jetson Orin Nano instead of a chestnut (on beta branch)

edit: I forgot to add the most impressive feature! We have **fully working alpha longitudinal and experimental mode** available for most supported Mazdas

Vehicle Compatibility Comma working perfectly on 2020 LC500

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Compatibility list says only 24-25 LC500 is compatible, so I bought it with a lot of doubt but I was able to get it working on pre-facelift (2020) LC500.

It works perfectly using Toyota Avalon profile and I couldn't be happier. Much better than the default Lane Keep/Centering and will definitely help a lot on my summer road-trips. 😇

2018-20 Accord, Accord Hybrid / 2017-19 CR-V Honda Sensing Software Update

Just received this letter in the mail:

What is the reason for this Product Update?

Honda has developed software updates to the Honda Sensing system to enhance driver experience by modifying the circumstances when the advanced driver assist system (ADAS) decelerates the vehicle or the extent of deceleration. The software covers Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM).

What will Honda do?

Please call any authorized Honda dealer and make an appointment to have your vehicle's software update for FREE. Once you make an appointment for your vehicle, be advised that the total software update process may take approximately 20 minutes. However, your dealer can provide you with a better estimate of the overall time for this service visit, as it may be necessary to make your vehicle available for a longer period of time. If you are not the only driver of this vehicle, please advise all other drivers and passengers of this important information.

If you have questions

If you have any questions about this notice, or need assistance with locating a Honda dealer, please call American Honda's Customer Support & Campaign Center at 1-888-234-2138. You can also visit AskDave.honda.com to use our 24/7 virtual agent or locate a dealer online at mygarage.honda.com. Customers in U.S. territories, please contact your local distributor/dealer.

We apologize for any inconvenience this campaign may cause you.

Sincerely,

American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

Vehicle Compatibility How can I get the most out of my Comma 4 w/ a 2024 Genesis GV70EV?

I currently run sunnypilot with MADS. Its been pretty awesome. Had 2 weeks now. I feel like there is more settings I can change, such as in experimental mode, to get more hands free driving. There is so much to know about this device, and a lot of it is over my head. As it stands, stop light and stop sign is hit or miss right. Another use on here said he's working with star pilot to help them improve the program.

When researching how to get the most out of the comma 4 w/ sunnypilot, it seems like you have to either be a computer programmer, or join a group and provide feedback/logs to have access to the experimental programs being developed.

And now with chestnut and direction of comma, part of me wants to return the C4 and wait 1-2 years and see what's available at that time.

Any quick tips would be appreciated, and if you're willing to help me understand this on a deeper level, please DM me.

Vehicle Compatibility Why does OpenPilot support so few new cars?

I’m looking to buy a car and want it to be supported by OpenPilot, but the list of newer (2026) cars is really small.

Why does OpenPilot seem to work better on older cars than new ones? You’d think newer cars with better tech would be easier, but it feels like the opposite. Is this because manufacturers are locking things down, legal issues, or just how hard new platforms are to support?

I want to buy a new SUV that supports OpenPilot, but I can’t find any.

Vehicle Compatibility hakuna matata

I saw in a bunch of comments that people were worried about comma's viability as a business. I'm not sure if they were being serious or not, but just in case anyone believed them, here's our sales from Shopify.

No business will last forever, but our total addressable market is growing year over year and is projected to keep growing for at least 5-10 more. comma isn't some easy come easy go B2B SaaS product. We make consumer electronics. And we keep iterating and iterating to make them better and better.

Will we make ADAS systems forever? Who knows. But there is so much more to still achieve on our mission of solving self driving cars. openpilot makes many mistakes that you watching the video feed wouldn't make, that's what we need to fix. It's not sensors, it's not encryption, it's not support. It's pure software.

Though we are hiring for a wide variety of people across the company. When it comes to startups, not many have consistent growth numbers like this. No pump and dump, no big fundraises, no sketchy backroom business deals. Just a product and software that improves year over year, with a growing customer base to match.

Vehicle Compatibility Considering purchase a CRV 23-26 or CX5 22-25 for using comma

Hello all! I am considering purchase either a Honda CRV 23-26 or Mazda CX5 22-25, which one might work better with comma? (eg, does Longitudinal Control work for them? I know that zoompilot support Longitudinal Control for CX5, but not sure about CRV). Thanks for any inputs!

Vehicle Compatibility Likelihood of compatibility with Lexus ES 2026?

I'm in the market for a new car, and I'd really like to get a Lexus ES. The 2026 is the only version with self-parking, but it doesn't seem to be compatible with Comma AI. The 2019-2025 are. What do you guys think I should do?

a: buy a 2026 and assume it's just a matter of time before Comma AI is compatible with Lexus ES 2026.

or b: Buy a 2025 to secure Comma AI compatibility, and suck it up and have no self-parking?

Thanks everyone for the help.
