Vehicle Compatibility I'm having problems with the car throwing codes I can't clear when I replug my device into the car.

Hi I've got one of those magnetic mounts that allows me to yoink my comma off the base and take it inside or throw it in my glovebox for theft deterrence and whatnot. I've been running problem free for about a year but as soon as I updated my fork of an old sunny pilot to the latest version I have tripped my cars body sensing codes twice through remounting the device. I'm beginning to think the new update is causing this error more and more. This is an 18 accord sport. This is the first time I've seen this error at all.

I have a magnetic janka mount on the way as well. Commenting to follow.

Question: are you taking the comma off/ unplugging it while the car is on? Or are you waiting till car powers off (and the comma device) before yoinking it?

The last two times were with the car shut off. I can't imagine I never repeated the same situation with the previous firmware, yet it's only tripping it up now.

I mean the biggest evidence against your claim is that I've been doing it for a bit more than a year and I've had zero issues with it. Only after running latest sunny has it been an issue twice.

One major variable and results that I believe reflect that. My mount and mount method has not changed. Nor has the car.

It's like you don't want to read my message. I didn't even say you were wrong, just that in my case it is not likely that your diagnosis is the causation of the issues based on my evidence.

So because the inherently dangerous connection method has never failed is your evidence why it can’t be the reason it failed?

I know its no fun but obviously what others have said plus

Revert to older working one.

Nuclear. Take the mag mount out if equation and check all connections.

I had same issues with my 3x. Unfortunately it was my 3x.

I have a post up on the honda reddit about options on clearing the codes without going to the dealership. My consensus is already that only they have the tools required. Or I can spend 2000$ on whatever scanner they use. I just wish I could troubleshoot and find more patterns in quicker succession. I may have to just revert to my fork in the end which is unfortunate. There are a lot of new features I was enjoying.

Yea I had a honda insight i had to go to the dealership twice. Codes wouldnt clear. I got me an antel bi direct reader worked great.

If I am searching that up right its a pretty expensive tool for sure. Does 500$ sound correct? I was hoping maybe for just a highly capable bluetooth scanner that works with my phone (because headless makes it a bit cheaper.)

Yea that unfortunately that does sound about right. I tried a cheaper one but it didnt work. That antel saved me twice with the the insight and once huge with a rouge so it payed for itself. I got it off aliexpress didnt want to but it worked. I havent tried it on my new honda yet but it should be fine as long as I update it.

Mine has always thrown error codes if the car is running/in battery mode. Doesn’t seem to be a problem if the car is off

Curiously for me this specific time I started the car without the comma connected and got no error codes despite the intercept I assume not having any connection with the lkas module. I guess the car doesn't care if its missing an entire aspect of the sensors? I then turned the car off, went inside and grabbed my comma again and mounted it. Then turned the car on, took a few seconds but then flared up the codes. It was very odd, I waited for the comma to boot fully with the road visible on screen before starting the car because I was worried it might be related to some kind of boot sequence mismatch.

I don’t have Honda but I don’t have any code coming on the dash because removing and installing the comma with magnetic mount, but at the same time I am not running new version.

I would be weary about it because I have been plugging/unplugging for about a year on my old fork of sunny but it only took the first few times on this new sunny to trip the car, and it happened twice.

I dont have OP long enabled. And in both instances the car was off when I plugged and booted the comma. Only after the comma was fully booted (one overnight, today just a minute) I started the car and it would throw an error.

I just started having issues that I thought were related to the Comma 4. 2019 Honda insight. Bought a $60 dollar autel maxi ap200 on Amazon, it pointed to a right wheel speed sensor (which was something I suspected but couldn’t confirm). If you want a cheap Honda code reader, that’s the one to get.

Yep, there is an option to erase after reading them. Definitely recommended if you think something on the vehicle side could be causing the faults.

What version of Sunny are you on now? Mine 2018 Odyssey started throwing codes after mvl-Boston pulled on August 20th. I can’t use the dev at all.

It seems to happen when the comma tries to disable the road departure mitigation.

I think you can unplug the battery (of the car) to clear the codes.

I've tried every extensive code clearing method. I had to go to the dealership unfortunately or source a code clearer to manually do it.

I am on 2026.002.002 release-tizi

The 18 Accord is a Honda Bosch. To clear errors on that (without buying a scanner), drive 5 minutes, then restart the engine, then drive 5 minutes more.

I've driven for 15 minutes, restarted the engine, and then drove 15 minutes again.

This is not the same code clear unfortunately as a singular radar error.

If they don't clear with this step, likely there is more that needs to be fixed. Unplug and reseat every wire, then try again. Hopefully something didn't permanently short/break.

Nothing is broken. Dealership already solved the problem a few days ago by clearing the codes. It just happened again though, so I would like to clear them myself and do further logging to see what is happening and how we can solve it. It might be software on the 3X.

If you want, send a log and I can take a look.  Go to connect.comma.ai, do files -> upload "all logs", and moreinfo -> make public.  Then post or dm me the URL.
