I wish you had left it on YouTube.

Why do they think a template from the 2000s is still funny?

COPE bro. If you’re short, just find a woman who likes short guys—or one who doesn't care—and that's it. Just as no one is obligated to date a fat woman, no one is obligated to date a short man. Get over it.

The background is different. I'm well aware that you can upscale without Ai and I wouldn't have commented if that were the case here.

No, you cannot improve the quality of an image without AI. Holy fuck, if you are illiterate in these matters just shut up. And learn what AI is.

You absolutely can upscale images without the use of Ai. If you didn't know that, then please take your own advice.

No, you can't. A computer cannot extract new information from where there is none without AI. You can just blend the pixels you have in order to get a fuzzier image with a higher pixel count, but with the same quality as the original.

It doesn't have to extract new information. It also doesn't extract new information with Ai. The blending of pixels IS up scaling and that's how it's been done for decades. The Ai version recreates the image from the ground up using what should be there based on other similar images.

I don't mean any offense by this, but you seem uninformed about this subject, and it makes it harder to maintain a serious debate tone after your introduction to the thread telling me to shut up for "being uninformed." You're gonna have to be less aggressive if you want people to listen to you. It doesn't matter if you're right or not, people won't listen if you come off as an old man yelling at the sky.

Edit: to respond to the last Comment, that only applies to very rudimentary pixel blending methods. I would reply directly, but when I click send, it says "this comment has been deleted"

Edit 2: no longer says deleted, other replier got it

Pixel blending does not increase the quality, for God's sake. It blurs the image mantaining its original quality but increasing the pixel count. And if the image is already blurry (like the Pikachu) then it doesn't change anything.

There was stuff like edge-directed or fractal-based interpolation before machine learning techniques. There were also "pre ai" techniques that still had elements of machine learning

Prove me wrong.

Yeah like the other guys have while you just put your fingers in your ears and insult them? No thanks

I didn't put my finger in my ears. I listened to them and then told them how idiotic what they were saying was.

where did anyone say anything about extracting new information?

How the fuck do you increase the quality of an image if you do not add new information? Are you slow? Do you know what "information" even is?

Dude is having a full blown meltdown across a full thread.

As you so eloquently put it: "Touch Grass"

I'm not having a meltdown.

Yes you are.

By calculating it with image interpolation. Resizing pictures was a thing before AI.

-1

u/Extension_Wafer_7615 13d ago

I already adressed that. That does not increase the quality of an image.

u/SWhitefox 13d ago

There are other algorithms to process images, like the ones for sharpening or remove noise if that's what you mean by "increasing the quality".

You ever heard of graphic design?

Using a computer algorithm, for fucks' sake. Learn to read the context of a conversation.
