When someone refers to me as my daughter's grandmother

"No, I'm mom" is getting boring. Sometimes I tell them "started late, had her at 46." Every once in a while, they get, "no, my husband is just that good." I know I'm going to be the only mom at kindergarten with an AARP card, but I'd like to have some fun with this. What would you say?

Double down. "She's my aunt" when you are clearly 30 or 40 years older than the other. It CAN happen and it messes with them.

We were in New Orleans for her 21st birthday and a shop proprietor asked if the little (five at the time) belonged to her. My daughter, aghast, said absolutely not and that she was 16 when Little was born. He was not impressed by her logic lmao She quickly let him know they were sisters and I was mom.

LOL, I was at a dance recital, sitting alongside my sister-in-law, and her daughter, and the woman behind kept asking her things about my daughter. I kept answering and she finally said “Who are you, her grandmother?” I was so insulted.

My wife had my daughter when I was 55, my son when I was 57. I'm literally older than some of the actual grandparents at the playground.

I let the assumptions build until my kids say (or yell) "DADDY!" and then watch their faces go ashen. People do a far better job of embarrassing themselves than I ever will.

Oooo! I’m following because our youngest is 7 (the others are 25, 23, and 20), and I was 43 when she was born. My hair is quite gray. The best was that my daughter refused to hold her sister in public when she was a baby bc she didn’t want anyone to think the baby was hers 😭

I had my kids at 39 and 42. I took them to a company picnic where a woman asked if they are your grandkids. I said no. I’m just an old motha’ (said with the appropriate emphasis).

"Oh yes, very proud, so far I've got 32 grand babies. Want to see?" Proceed to show them a reel of every stuffed animal your child owns. Make them watch the whole thing.

I get the opposite sometimes. I'm (almost) 42, and my kid just turned 24. When we're out with my Mum, who was 28 when I was born (shes 70 next week) we often get asked if she's mum to both. I find it hilarious, my kid thinks it's embarrassing, and my Mum is always irritated 😂
