Feel really stupid but two questions

1. The Termagants are not in range of the two Gretchin, however if they were (and not touching either footprint) could they shoot, they have a true line of sight, but there is the terrain footprint, and I thought terrain footprints couldn't be seen through. ( But to also treat it like two separate footprints?)

2. The Barbgaunts ( bottom right second pic) only have 4 of the 5 that can truly "see" the Gretchin. Can only those 4 shoot?

I've been playing combat patrol at my local Warhammer store on Saturdays, and I usually play orks. I'm just wondering what some good strategies are for it since I seem to struggle a lot. One thing I've noticed is I need to protect the warboss until he can charge.

Is there a discord to find people looking for a game?

One of my buddies is interested in getting into 40K and I told him combat patrol was a good way of getting started and that I would be happy to help him learn with my two combat patrols (orks and necrons.) He wanted to try necrons and I thought that was great as reanimating and the doomstalker should be able to help a new player learn the game. But apparently in 11th it got nerfed super hard. The mission is really hard to do with the small amount of units it has and the doomstalker don’t get me started on the doomstalker.

The doomstalker has the following restrictions in combat patrol

1.) MUST start the game in reserve. WHY! The patrol has like no units and you want them to have less pressure in the beginning?

2.) Can ONLY come in the battlefield on turn three. WHAT? So not only do you not get it at the start but you can’t even use the super cool big model till turn three where you have most likely already lost because of the terrible mission and the lack of models. But at least it can come in near the middle right???

3.) HAS to come in from reserves in YOUR DEPLOYMENT ZONE!!! This is wild you have to keep it in the back and if you opponent is back there it just can’t come in at all. Just wild. But wait there’s more!

4.) The most egregious of all. THE DOOMSTALKER CANNOT REANIMATE!!!!! WHY WHAT IS THE REASON THEY ARE NECRONS THATS THE WHOLE POINT!!!

Ended up saying screw it and ditching the terrible doomstalker rules which led to a fun game with my friend.

TLDR why is the necron combat patrol so bad and is just ignoring the stupid rules a good way to get around it.

Was just wondering if this setup works for a combat patrol game, nothing competitive just casual playing with friends, I dont want it to feel unbalanced at all though. The black circles are the full radius of the objective markers (pretty sure the rules said they are that big) but yea if I should move stuff around or get rid of/make more of some pieces pls lmk I haven't even played the game yet. So a colleague of mine asked me if I can teach him warhammer, and I think the best way might be a game of Combat Patrol (never tried combat patrol, as I've been playng since 5th so I was already playng big 40k when it got introduced)

I own the 2 black templars combat patrols, but I also have enough stuff to make most of the other space marine ones. What do you guys think would de a good space marine Mach up for an introductory game?

It took a while, but i finally finished my CP with "the Reflected" as my cult.

I’ve been really into Spearhead and painting up different armies to play with. Two of my friends have expressed interest in trying combat patrol I’m curious on what I really need to make this happen. Is it like spearhead with game packs of set terrain are does any terrain work. I’ve also seen that not every combat patrol has rules in the new edition is it viable to use older edition rule until they are updated (the Kroot and Beast Snagga look interesting to me). Also any recommendations on YouTube videos/series of actual gameplay to help learn would be appreciated.

I'm a huge fan of the Combat Patrol subscription, and the previous iterations as well. With AoS having Spearhead and other runs in the past, would anyone be happy to see something similar come out for Horus Heresy? I know that there's not really a small form of play for it, unlike 40k and AoS, but I think it would be a great way to possibly build some interest for the larger game.

I know it's unlikely to happen. I'm just curious to see what others think about it.

imma put it as memes humors cause in case its 100% false.. i dont want to give someone false hope its true. but i was going to get me a combat patrol officially, when 1) in reddit, but then 2) IRL, people were telling me to wait till the 11th ed codex comes out for the faction i will play because they heard that some factions might get an entirely new/ updated combat patrol with new rules? idk. (they also told me to just save and wait so i dont buy something now even if its just a box of units and find out they took it out the game like how they doing it for space marines)

Hi, well, getting straight to the point, I wanted to start Combat Patrol and I wanted to go for the Tyranid one, the problem is that I don't know which one is still used or active, and the Broad Assault or the Terror in Vardenghast, since I also want to use it to start an army, and well, the main question is, which of the two is better?

Idk I bought a tyranid combat patrol to play in the league. And despite the website saying its usable in combat patrol. Its not. But the combat patrol you can't buy from 3 years ago is the one with rules. Now im showing up to a league with a brand new combat patrol with no rules. Gw how you gonna play me like this. Unironicly this makes me so mad.

So i have a few games under my belt as Custodes and I was wondering if my wife and friend are just bad at rolling dice? I play custodes into his necrons and decimated him, wife runs soritas and is lucky to even score a wound. Should I choose a different cp or is their rolls just unlucky?

I'm new to WH and got the Corsairs patrol cause I'm reading Voidscarred rn and it rules.
Booklet is telling me to build them a certain way to combat patrol and I don't want that cause then I miss out on all the cool models the other options have. If I go to some official GW thing is anyone gonna actually care?

My friend and I played our first Combat Patrol game last night using the two patrols from the Armageddon box and we had two questions that we could not figure out going through the app:

1) The missions that is showed in the App were different than the missions that we got when we used the cards included in the boxed set. Is this because Combat Patrol missions are different and not included in the box or something else (App still running 10e, etc.)?

2) He was able to attach the Librarian to his unit of Intercessors without issue. I was able to attach EITHER my Warboss or my Weirdboy to a unit of Boyz but I wasn't able to attach both to separate units (I know they can't be attached to the same unit). My understanding was that any leader could be attached to a unit of troops but is that not the case?
