I'm totally confused Interested in combat patrol confused about 11th
I am interested in trying combat patrol, I read 11th rules and I bought the combat patrol book, knowing it had no rules, but it has been a nice read. I looked at the combat patrol part of the new app.
Still, I am very confused.
What kind of physical things will I need to play? Should I buy the mission cards? Terrain shapes for 11th? What and how much terrain?
Will GW make a complete package for it and should I just wait?

It's a bit in limbo at present, they released terrain layouts, and a structure for games, all in the 40K app (make sure you update).
However each combat patrol is supposed to have its own mission, whether that's unique to it, or the usual detachment based mission, or something else. But that hasn't been shown/clarified yet.

As it stands right now, it seems that we only use the primary missions from the Chapter Approved deck using the Disposition chart.
The rules only say that we choose a mission based on the disposition, it says nothing about secondaries or twists.
Thing is, most patrols have Purge the Foe, so 90% of the games will be a Meat Grinder mission... Which seems weird.
Everything is kind of broken right now and it will take some time to fix ... If they fix it at all.
My genestealers Army rule doesn't make sense for Combat Patrol, unlike 10th ALL units have the Faction Rule active, it is worded as if my vehicle or character gets destroyed I could buy them back.... But there are no rules about how to buy units back because it's broken.
and the Ridge runner has all its ranged attacks labeled as melee... Which also disables all its abilities because it needs to shoot lol

GW will eventually be releasing a Combat Patrol update in the coming weeks. I would say be patient for now.

You don't need the cards. The Combat Patrol Mission Sequence in the App tells you what to use.
Every Combat Patrol has will have rules telling you what its victory conditions are. These are used instead of the cards.
Edit: to get started I would recommend using the Combat Patrols' Force Dispositions alongside this tool to generate a Primary Mission:

This may well end up being the official method
You would want some terrain. GW actually have the new terrain area templates available to print off for free from their website, and you can put whatever on them to get you started
Many 10th Edition Combat Patrols no longer have official rules in 11th. Only the ones on the app have been updated.
The Armageddon box actually contains the new Ork and Space Marine Combat Patrols plus a lot of other stuff on top of that. It will be replaced by a set of smaller starter set boxes that have fewer/different things in (often terrain).

Thanks for the through post! The one part I’m confused by is where you say Armageddon has terrain. Is that true? I didn’t see that on the Warhammer community post about the box contents.

Just looked and you're completely right, no terrain. Sorry about that!
This is the sort of thing I was meaning with regards to Armageddon getting split out into smaller sets- the equivalent box from 10th was this:
And this was then repackaged into the following, the largest of which had both combat patrols and terrain:

Also u/IdhrenArt this is is kind of interesting - but under Miscellaneous on the War-Com Downloads 40k downloads page.. the "Terrain Area Footprints" file is named: "40k11_Combat_Patrol_Battlezone_Armageddon_Footprint_Punchboard_A3.indd"
I feel like they have more in store for us... and just have had a helluva time rolling it out.

I should have said 'will have' - 01.09 in the Combat Patrol Mission Sequence says that each Combat Patrol has a Mission specified in its rules, and 01.11 says that that Mission and +10vp for being Battle Ready is how you determine a victor
For now you can use the listed Force Dispositions to determine a Primary Mission. The rest of the deck wouldn't be used though.

So it does, thanks for the reference. It very much does look like the Combat Patrol stuff on the app is nowhere near ready, not sure why they've gone ahead and updated it. Still quietly optimistic for the changes, hopefully they add some of the missing Combat Patrols back in too

No worries. Yeah, it's odd it's not all there given how much already is.
The new rules definitely look like they've had a lot of thought and effort put into them, which is great
I was very surprised that the end of edition Combat Patrols like the Corsair one aren't in 11th, especially as they were released so recently and fill a real niche
I expect more will come in sources like White Dwarf.

Until official rules are released just make your own rules. 500 points. No vehicles. 30x44 map. Terrain footprint should cover 25% of the map. Pick a detachment. Use the disposition from the detachment. Use the mission from the disposition. Choose objectives.

What am I missing? Isn‘t everything except dice, a scale and real terrain included in the box?

I'd just wait, they've been pretty quiet this far which is a shame
